What TV tuner card do you guys recommend? Someone I know is looking for a decent tuner that does cable TV tuning, in good enough quality for a 22" LCD monitor without being overly grainy or blotchy like some of the el cheapo tuners tend to be. Digital would be nice but if what I read is true you can't really do that because of licensing crap in the way (correct me if I'm wrong).
I'm not on the up-and-up on TV tuners so I thought I'd check with the guys here.
Thanks!

I have a Hauppauge WinTV 1800 and it has a built in digital tuner. I don't know what you mean by the licensing crap thing, I can record any high def signal I want and move it to DVD.
One thing I have always had a problem with is getting the TV cards to always work! I have had a ATI theater master (PCIex1) and this one which is also a PCIEx1. Both cards have intermittent connection problems where when you boot your computer the tuner doesn't show up! I need to shut down the computer and move the card in the slot.
This is with 2 different cards and three different motherboards! Both cards as well, seem to not fit perfectly to the case. What a pain (diferrent cases too!)
You will need decent TV software. If you are in the US media center works but not in other countries (for digital) that is.
Sage TV is great though.

Onair Creator HDTV USB. Best tuner card there is. It's an external USB TV Tuner that shows digital and analog cable/air channels (records and takes screenshots in HD too.). I've been using it for about 3 years and consider it one of the best purchases I've ever made.
OnAir is a Korean Company and is represented in the US by AutumnWave. They have couple of products. HDTV recorders and some hi-def headphones.

I strongly recommend you do not purchase any Leadtek/winfast tuners because driver support is non-existent and I cannot get my 2000H working on my vista 64 rig.
I ended up getting a tv hd set top box and using the hdmi output to connect it to my monitor.

I am still standing by my Dvico FusionHDTV7 Duel Express tuner card. Hasnt failed me yet. Although i havent tried it yet (no need) I can apparently watch 4 HD channels at once. It is a true dual HDTV tuner card and can supposedly play PIP on both channels or something like that. It has a single coax input but has two independant HDTV tuners on a single piece of silicon. So the propaganda says that is good. Again i have not had a single issue with it and XP.

I am looking for a dual HDTV capture card for Satelite and Cable usage. I have just basic cable local channels, but the other setup I am going to be building for someone has satelite with many channels. I have read many many reviews saying that most capture cards are poor at QAM capture. I noticed that DVICO is about the only dual on the market. How is it at cable or satelite capture?

I bought a ATI HD 650 PCIE dual turner card a few weeks ago and i'm loving it. has both analog/digital tuners on board and works in Vista/Vista64 and windows7 without issue. ( I haven't personally tried windows7 with the card, but I read other people's success stories before deciding on the card)
