Is there any owners of new MX518? Do they scroll quietly?

generally yes, but my deathadder scroll's quieter. the 518 and the the deathadder are both really great mice, either one is a good purchase

I just wanted to know if it's an issue of long exploitation. I've mine for about 3-4 years and never cleaned it.
I've also MX510 and it has been used for about 6 years and it still work properly and scrolling wheel is quiet as new.

ah, I see you already have the mouse and its making a noise. hmm, well 518's arent the most durable mice, I have owned 3 and my 3rd is sitting in a drawer with an internal short.

Why? What happened with yours?

mostly mine short inside, I have heard its a very common problem. What happens is the mouse randomly disconnects for a fraction of a second then reconnects.

I've never heard about it and never had that problem with mine or may be just didn't notice.

Can't get a quieter scroll than the Logitech G9 ;)

Do you get a "bump bump bump" sound when you scroll? I have the same noise, but the mouse works perfectly fine, so don't worry about it.

May be.
So, it's not a serious problem. Thanks to all.

No noise at all from my 518, my knuckle joints though are a different matter.

Try not to smack your fist on it, or throw it onto the ground each time you get fragged.
Seriously though, i've owned MX series mice from their release dates and both are still perfectly fine.
I have a Logitech MX510 ever since it got released (which has been used _a lot_ and now serves as my notebook mouse).
I also have a MX518 since release.
Both still work perfect, all i had to do was switch out the glides for hyperglides once they worn out, due to excessive use.
Logitech = epic win for all HID mice/keyboards i have ever owned.
And even if it fails you...their service is superb. (aka almost instant replacement).
I have 10 year old Logitech keyboards still working like they did the first day i bought them.

My MX518 is fine, but at work I have this old ball mouse that squeaks when I move it around. I should pop it open and see if there is a real mouse inside

Yea, on my third mx518 as well, two of them had the disconnect problem you described, and one started to miss clicks now and then. I managed to switch some parts between them all to make one working mouse tho :P
If your scroll is making strange noises its probably some dirt scraping it, that would be my guess.
