Trying to take down the big boys (Andre) in 3DMark 2006. Quad GFXS!

Still alittlebit low efficiency, but hey.. second place in the world after OPB got banned from Hwbot.org. Next is 4 cards on LN2, 1100/1100 should boost the scores alittle :D.. hell, I want that first place..

I was in the lead in "lords of overclocking" over at FM until one hour before it ended, I checked FMs sites on a vorspiel/foreplay (whatever its called in english) and got SHOCKED by benchbrothers.. hell, I was drunk then.. couldnt bench :(.. so I decided to take them down afterwards :D

I stole OPBs/Jodys HR-03GT mod, I ran with piser before.. seems to work great!

Corsair HX1000w (yes, ONE psu for this setup.. about 1150w peak in canyon flight :D)
CPU pot by Stoolman called "stoolcan", running -145C with bad sensor.. temps is around -160C
Selfmade MDF "benchtable".. ;)

To be honest we believed that we are in front of you. :D But it seems that we have to do better.

Unfortunately Rampage II Extreme is the limiting factor here. Cpu-tests run perfect up to 5.36 ghz with less then 1.6 volt under cascade (-96 degrees) but gametests crash or slow down massively.

But once we change uclk, memory-timings and/or qpi-settings, the system shuts down completely and we only can boot again when the temperature is at -27 or less.

So we just set "safe" uclk and memory-timings and started to look for max frequency of our xeon. It passed cpu-test at 5,460 mhz but at full run it only reached frame 39 of cpu-test #2. So maybe with finetuning we can pass the whole benchmark at this frequency.

I just tested the E760 fast on LN2 with four 4890s.. I think I got the EXACT same score as hipro in 06, at a tad lower clock.. 5.3Ghz cpu.. screen is ofcourse on the bench harddrive, will ship it over as fast as possible.

That sounds like the IMC coldbugging rather than the processor core. When you hit the coldbug at -115°C, did you try increasing the uncore frequency and/or uncore voltage (VTT)?

the E760 IS faster than my old E759, tried some 4.2Ghz action, and it runs 200-400 points faster.

yes it's depends of cpu ,it's "generally" best between -90/-100 ° but there is always the exception that proves the rule :)

my 975 make 5.45ghz at 3dmark05 between -99° and -105° (under my caskade 2 stages) but I need to test under LN2 soon for see the best temp for it (maybe -90°, maybe -120° or more) the i7 are strange with the cold (because of control memory and I think maybe other things) ...
