lol tone down the XP Startup, believe the limit is 220mb/s :D Nice HDD scores otherwise, setup?

Is this the fastest default run?

That score is not valid. XP Startup should be limited down to 220MB/s ;)

Just tried running the free( unregistered version) of this and got nothing showing on the scoring.
XP Pro64.. Am I missing something?

You're either missing requirements (if I had to guess it'd be windows media encoder) or the system is mildly unstable and didn't complete some of the tests.
Nizzen, you have a ways to go. Also, most people in the community refer to hwbot, where HDD startup scores higher than 220 MB/sec aren't allowed to prevent the usage of MFT.

Anyone got any ideas what i'm doing wrong here?
Media encoder9 installed and still nothing..:shakes:

IIRC it must be a 32-bit version of Media Encoder, even on x64 OS.

damn, I installed the 64 bit version..
Ok, thanks for the info and we'll try again..
MM, might be wrong, but you need "Adjust for best appearance" selected, Right click My Comp, click Properties, then Advanced and then System something (can't remember).
If you click the "Details" button on the result, you should be able to expand each section to see which test you didn't get a score for. :)

This machine just might beat the OP's score.. :wasntme:

Boy did I get my ass handed to me big time!:shakes:
Would have thought this system had more stones than that or is PCMark limited on cores it uses?

You are clockspeed limited with PCM05. It scales to 4 cores max I believe and most of the tests are single or dual threaded. I believe PCM Vantage might be a better test for a dual-socket board but I think you'll still get stomped by a ~4GHz to 4.5GHz chip simply due to not all tests scaling to 16 threads.

I have a Vantage disk here that came with a card I bought but to run vantage means I'd have to run Vista and Vista isn't allowed in my house!:D

Dave you need about 4 or more SSDs in raid also. I got 18,000 (http://www.hwbot.org/listResults.do?userId=14455&applicationId=9) with 2 of the and only 13,000 with 2 raptors in raid.

I have 4-73 gig Seagate 15.4K SAS drives on that machine with a 350MB read and 250MB write.
Not the fastest that exists but not bad either..

His winXP startup test is 4 times the limit, giving him a huge point boost. In fact, all his HDD scores are very high, giving him his 28k score.

Yes Im quite aware he is getting the boost from those high scoring tests. Im trying to determine if its a w7 bug, or if hes using ramdrive, or if the scores is different from a run in vista at the same settings etc

You need the compare URL to figure that out.. the scores that he does have visible are not equal to a 28k run, I have a legit 28k run and I'm ~10-40% higher in the visible tests. I estimate w/o his XP startup score he'd be around 24k.

Right thats why I was asking the OP for more information about his setup and other things. Just curious as to where that XP startup is coming from

HoF is broken due to FM not accepting Vista results(due to Aero). Therefore Win7 shouldn't be accepted either, give them time. HoF is so broken and unmanaged, HWBot.org is all that matters now.

Nice scores in Vantage ! haven't looked at Vantage in a while - wonder what it'll take to get to 30k !

His PCMVantage run is with an ARECA, or at least FM detects it as an ARECA. I'm curious what card he used but he isn't sharing any information on the runs

When does this "NDA" lift? I would venture to guess some sort of "vertex-like" SSD in a large array. Maybe 10 or more? I too would like to know which ARECA he's using.
And yeah HoF isnt competitive anymore. Check hwbot, 31K is record there, but I know Mike has 33K+ and probably more backups. So aim for the stars :D
(and watch that XP startup - more than 220mb/s isnt accepted;))

You know what - that's one of the reason I always enjoyed and loved PCMarks. It's always a challenge to figure out what is the best combination of hardware to achieve the max potential in this benchmark. It's figuring out more than just a few pieces of hardware to do good in PCmark05 and Vantage, but making sure that every single part of your hardware is optimized to do well here.
And since having the right combo can be so crucial - it's the part of the pcmark game to keep a few things "tightlipped" here and there.
