Back from school and trying to give my old computer to my dad. Was working fine, etc. Decided to update EVERYTHING.
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Attempted to do a BIOS flash with Alt+F2, like I have many times before. Finds P5WDH.ROM, but stalls at "reading P5WDH.ROM" for a long time. I wait 20 minutes, still stalled there. I restart the computer...
Now, nothing. Doesn't post, doesn't do anything, the fans spin up and then it just sits there.
Any suggestions? I'm seriously, seriously upset right now.

Take a break. Pull the battery and do an extended cmos clr.
edit: If you simply can't revive it, there's always the old hotflash method if you have another board around with a similar bios chip. Then of course you could always order a preprogrammed bios chip and just swap it in.

Mentions some procedure outlined in the manual?
Otherwise, if you have access to another or similar board, you could always hot-flash it.

Ah. Thanks guys. Was hoping for a non-removable procedure. Oh well.
There's a guy in TO who can reflash for $15, so I guess that's my option at this point. Left it overnight to clear and didn't work.

If he can successfully re-flash it then I would say that's 15 bucks well spent:D

And it works!
Great guy, really nice. Operates out of his apartment.
I would highly recommend him for your BIOS reflashing needs.

Just brought the chip and the .rom on a flash drive, and he plugged it in, wiped the chip and flashed it with the new bios. Very happy :)
From his site:
Sometimes there is not even one customer for a month.
I know I have to keep it running because someone will need it.
And I was one of those people :p

Glad you got it flashed.
That's still strange though; the board isn't supposed to TOUCH the BIOS unless it can read the image successfully.
Were you using ezflash?
