23x works better then 24x - CPU has a low VID (1.14V) and high leakage - so i think we need some LN2 to max them out...
Then we tested the Core i7 920 again (last week we got some nice scores with this CPU):
Intel Core i7 920 CPU-Z@5299MHz CL6
http://www.abload.de/img/cpuzeqz6.png (http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=cpuzeqz6.png)

Super PI 32M CL6:

Super PI 1M (last week):
http://www.abload.de/img/1mbestioja.png (http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=1mbestioja.png)
This weekend we got some better CPU-Z scores with this CPU - cause we got the Pot a little bit colder - this CPU has a low VID (1.15V) and high leakage too..
wPrime 1024M@high clocks is with both CPUs not possible, cause temperature is getting higher and higher...
I hope we can test them next weeks with some LN2.
A special thanks goes to EVGA and Shamino for the best motherboard - EVGA Classified is a real beast
Stay tuned :rehab:

Very impressed, seems the classified is the base for the serious benchers,
and the new DO's are the burners.

Insane OCing! Isn't that considered the world record (for the time being at least)?
Thank you :) - atm it is the hwbot record with i7 950 - but i dont think for a long time :D - when top overclockers starting benching with this cpu...
Nice results! What mhz for 3dm06 and vantage cpu test ?
Thx - not yet tested the i7 950 in 3D - hope next week..
The i7 920 runs 4.9GHz Vantage and 5GHz 3D06 under Single Stage - with better cooling think both CPUs can do 5GHz+
Ah, finally we see a 950 starting to live up to expectations, and a very nice 920 validation too! Thanks for the inspirational post. :)
Thx mate :) - saw your nice benching thread @EVGA Forum - well done

Thanks - important voltages: VTT@1.35V and IOH@1.45V
Strong 950, very nice
Thanks mate :)
realy nice 950 :D
Thanks! The i7 920 is second Retail Chip and i7 950 first - and both running good..
First time i have so much luck :D
AWsome there mate, well done to you and what is max Bclk on this core i7 950 ? and coldbug around what degress ?:eek::up:
Thank you mate - did not test max BCLK @950 (played only with x23) - no CB and CBB @ both CPUs - both CPUs boot without problems @ -65°C outside the pot - think we need some LN2 to find this out :D
Sweet setup and super results.., Congrats and best wishes in future sessions! :-)
Thank you :)
Very impressed, seems the classified is the base for the serious benchers,

great run,
Thx mate - Classified is the best board i ever had - EVGA and Shamino did a great job
good job
Thanks
Great job dude, heheh you run tghter timings on 32m than 1m :D
Thx Master :) - this board is pure fun  - cant stop benching :rehab:
We tested so a long time 32M (cause score was not as good as it could) and then we had no more Dice..Must do this 1M and PiFast Screen very fast :D - no time for tweaking...

Great work! Were you more bclk limited with 24x and thats why you used 23x?
Thanks :)
24x is buged and i can only hit 5150MHz for a screen - but 23x works smooth :D
Thanks afrokalle, I'll give those volts a shot with my 950. Dont know about those vcore volts though even under the cascade :D
we worked without LLC - so VCore drooped to 1.5V - 1.525V@Load. Did not really test if CPU can do this clocks with less VCore...
Hope youŽll have fun with your i7 950

Thx mate :)
Batch is 3849Bxxx (dont know the rest :D - iŽll update..)
I dont know if any i7 950 have a problem with x24 but i saw that Pt1t ones have problems too..
All i7 works a little bit better with oddly multipliers (17,19,21,23) but on my i7 950 the difference between x23 and x24 is very big

CPU scales wonderful with cold but its not cold enough to bench 3D06 CPU Test with more then 5GHz - but i will try with Dice or LN2 at the weekend...
Core i7 950 & GTX280 (Card is @stockcooler at the moment but will make cold next days :D)
http://www.abload.de/img/gtx280aquacpri.png (http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=gtx280aquacpri.png)
not enough cold at the moment to push cpu to same result as yesterday...

looking forward to seeing some more results when you can go cooler Afrokalle :D
Theres a big diff between 2D and 3D there...more than I was expecting!
Afrokalle
06-10-2009, 11:57 PM
Thanks gaidin :)
the differences came only from kind of cooling...
2D was cooling with Dice (-65°C outside the pot) and now 3D with the Single Stage (-45°C@Eva).
I think with Dice or better LN2 this 950 will run ~5250MHz or perhaps 5300MHz through 3D.
Heard from a friend that his 975 has coldbug@-120°C but in 3D06 CPU Test its running@-135°C - this new D0 CPUs scales very good with cold

Congrats mate  this is really impressive...
Think i have to test with only one memory module too :D
At the moment i try to get sub7min in Super PI 32M:
http://www.abload.de/img/32m8137.png (http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=32m8137.png)
Single Stage -43°C@Load (no tweaks yet - only maxmem=600)
Pushing uncore helps a lot in 32M - this run is as fast as my Dice run @5250MHz with low uncore - so with 5250MHz + Uncore + CW i think i can break 7min barrier...

06-16-2009, 07:51 AM
Afrokalle,
Your superpi performance screen is every bit as impressive as my max clock! :)
Can you explain "maxmem=600" ? I can find no 'maxmem' setting in BIOS. Also, is it possible to get lower than 16x uncore?
Thanks! roller11
Maxmem is set in OS (msconfig/bootini/advanced).
Nice scores Afrokalle

Also, is it possible to get lower than 16x uncore?
Thanks! roller11
If I'm not mistakin if you disable QPI Controller Setting this will give you a lower uncore.
Afrokalle
06-16-2009, 08:28 AM
Thanks roller11 & loc.o :)
@drnip: if you disable QPI Controller Setting you will get a lower QPI Link Speed - some call it slow mode...
your uncore must memory speed x2 - so if you use memory multiplier x8 the lowest uncore multiplier is x16 (cpu-z shows uncore as nb frequency) - but you can choose a higher uncore multiplier to get faster L3 Latencies.

Thx :)
@WCRF: we used for Elpida Hyper Chips ~1.76V - 1.82V and for Elpida BBSE ~1.70V - 1.76V (this chips do not scale good with vmem)
@aerie: x24 is not running as good as x23 - dont know why....
Thx :)
@WCRF: we used for Elpida Hyper Chips ~1.76V - 1.82V and for Elpida BBSE ~1.70V - 1.76V (this chips do not scale good with vmem)
Is this Elpida Hyper the same of Corsair Dominator??
I'm asking 'cause I have the same RAMs
Afrokalle
06-23-2009, 10:47 PM
Elpida Hyper Chips are only on new Corsair memory (1866MHz C7, 2000MHz C8 & 2000MHz C7). You have (when weŽre talking about the memory in your sig) the Corsair 1600MHz C8 - donŽt know what chips on this modules - but definetly not Elpida Hyper...
