View Full Version : E8500 WR from Ukraine (6370MHz)
New CPU-Z WR at hwbot.org was set by Crazy666 and Nick.ua in Ukraine yesterday, 31 may, during public Lanparty "de:coded 2009". :yepp:

Was set with Alu pot :p:
Record clock at 6370 MHz was set with the following configuration:

Wow, great freq!
Any benches done?

Yeah, lot's of hardware, but no PI, 3d ? :)
Congratz btw, super clocks.
Was very little time, we were on party only 1.5 days, and most of time just tried hardware to run stable :D. Some benches was run, but not posted yet.
Record author will post here little later, just come back home and have some rest after 50+ hours without normal sleep.
I've tried i7 965 but failed with clocks above 4800 with -60, and had cedarmill "fun" with 5.8GHz at LN2 only :-D
alu pot!
OMW that means about +100 or +200 mhz more on CU, because alu is only around -100 full ln2..
damn good cpu

Good to see E8500 again in action, haven't seen that little devil in a long time :D
Great chip mates, you just need a good copper pot now ;)
George_o/c
Thanks! We have massive Cu pot already, but tested it with i7 965. I've made selfmade temp probe and stored all temp logs of sensor, even with powered off system. What I can say - it's easily to hold temp at +- 5 °C on 1.65Vcore i7 with all cores enabled :) I hope that E8500 and this pot will meet in nearest future together :)

yeah, that pot was realy crazy :)
Very nice E8500, good work

anyway nice cpu.

Our topic as is hwbot version, this result isn't posted there, and also it's with C0 CPU

Nice stuff there
Analyzed stored data of our selfmade prototype thermal probe logger. There was 380000 of independent measurements taken, for time more that hour, with scan frequency 91 Hz. Absolute tolerance was near 5°C, relative - little more than 1.5°C without much tune and using retail Voltcraft meter as quick reference. Sensing element used is RTD Honeywell HEL-705.
Our copper pot "Xtremelabs.org MAGNUM" is very massive, and holds temp very smoothy. Without pouring LN2, i7 965 at 4.6GHz warmup with speed 5 to 10°C during 20 seconds, depending on load! Loooong red line rise at central part of graph shows temps from -65 to -25 °C during 160 second, w/o pouring any LN, so we get speed ~+0.25°С/sec, with i7 965 counting SuperPi using 1 core.

Will post cedarmill results , if anybody interesting.
Some techincal stuff can be open, if anybody need.
Nobody wants to make big'n'great LN2 pot testing and measuring real heat capacity? :D. We have insane Q6700 B3, which gets ~300W of power output with loaded 3.5GHz ~1.6V only :D

Nice benching, the location looks noble. In which kind of building this event took place? (Is it a hotel maybe?) :)

<-- Interested :D
Hyperhorn, it was some kind of local exhibition building.
There were students and people lurking around, so overclockers had hard time with their systems. I don't like benchies with public at all.

That`s for sure a disturbance sometimes, but as far I can see (the translated version of the thread you posted) you had much fun, too.
If you got some minutes, feel free to share the Cedar Mill results. I like these oldschool MHz monsters.^^

Amazing job.Your chip is killing...and fsb flying high!!!
Here is Cedarmill with LN2 benchmark.
http://www.xdevs.com/kb/magnum2.png
Probe was powered with bench system, and commando mobo has switch-off-on things, usual to that piece of s...hardware, so graph is bit crappy with cropped temp lines.
Very left event - BIOS temp page monitoring and freezing system with three LN2 pours (~1 L of LN), with 5.2 GHz clock and 1.95V.
Temp speed = ~ 5°C/sec
Reached -88 °C, and then system powered off during reboot.
Then booting windows, we have straight line at -40°C, and just after boot - fast temp drop to -62, in few seconds. Temp speed ~10°C/sec
Flying idle, temp rises ~5°C/sec. then some reboots after SetFSB halts.
Second interesting thing - SuperPi 1M run, in the middle of graph, where we have -80°C, test begin, temp rise ~7°C/sec.
Holding temps from -70 to -86 for ~2 minute wasn't an issue and took 6 LN2 pours, ~1.5L of LN. I've tried two methods to keep temp, often and small amount of LN and bigger LN2 pours for more time.
I think that temps aren't too bad , keeping CPU with stable temp (+-10°C) is possible without much problems.
If anybody have temperature logging equipment and overclocks with LN, I'd like to see another LN2 pot benchies.

WR at hwbot version?! World Record can be only global and this result (6370MHz) is only 4th.

Do you also happen to know that being arrogant and dis-respectful in a global overclocking community is frowned upon and not accepted ? :yepp:
Get a life dude, you could at least congrats the dude instead of mocking at him.

it is no secret that some of the top overclockers do not participate in the hwbot challenge therefore, you cannot claim a WR (world record) if there exists a higher, publically posted and valid score somewhere else outside of hwbot.
Put it this way, i can make my own/participate in an overclocking database with three entries, be the best among the three and then claim my score a WR.
the logging software you use for monitoring looks quite interesting, where can I get such a unit ?

Difference is hwbot has 300.000 submissions, not 3. ;) Personally i find it equally lame to claim you have a WR if you have not submitted it to any online db like hwbot, ripping or futuremark. It needs to be validated somewhere and hwbot is a good spot.
Good job, TIN_EOF!

Yeah, but HWBOT is an official organisation that is recognised worldwide
Its not quite the same as you setting up your own
Great freq, looking forward to more testing!

That graphs above was make with usual Excel using data from my selfmade multi-channel thermal measurement system with Platinum sensors. ATM system is not selling international, because of big shipment price.
Also current samples don't have LCD, it just sending data to notebook. Maybe in future I'll release thermal logger suitable for LN temps if people get interested.

Difference is hwbot has 300.000 submissions, not 3. ;)if you say that a "big" database can announce its best scores as WR (even when they aren't the best scores on the web) then please define the criteria (in numbers) for it to be given such right
i personally have nothing against hwbot, but i simply got tired of people (and organisations ;)) who produce a score and claim it a world record just because see it at the #1 rank in one (not all!) of the databases (don't even bother to use "search" button at the forum they post)
Comrades benched this CPU again..
