View Full Version : Is G92 able to down volt.?

I have searched the forum and found the voltage hardmod for G92, using a resistor to parallelize to the original resistor on the PCB to decrease the total resistor value, but this is a overvolt modding. For saving power and make the chip cooler, I wonder is there any way to do the downvolting?:p: Both hardmod or softmod are OK.
BTW: It seems no use to mod G92 BIOS to decrease the default voltage value, the temperature and max.core frequency has no changes after BIOS modding. I also wonder the whether nvidia is going to support G92 volt tuning in the future forceware driver?:confused:

Here, I scetched this hardmod for lowering vGPU on reference G92 cards just for you:
97189
That is, solder a 500Ω VR between the red dots.
Lower resistance -> lower vGPU.
It's also possible to make one mod with a switch that allows a higher and lower vGPU via one single VR, depending on the position of the switch.

G92 has no Low Profile, so forget to auto-downclock and down volt in 2d

I set the 2D profile and it really works, but the voltage control does not work. I find 9600GT and GTX260 BIOS and see that the code in freq/volt control format is the same, as shown in the upper pic.

Unfortunately my galaxy GTS250 is not the reference design PCB. Here are pics of this card, can you find the vGPU control resistors on this PCB? I think it is just in the top right near the jumper.
