I don't know anything about building my own machine but I know enough to pick parts to have someone build it.
Anyone know a good place online to check out?
I've been looking at Polywell and Falcon-NW
Any others with good prices?

Welcome to XtremeSystems
Everyone here builds there own, too much mark up on falcon and alienware. do some research here and build your own. Its easy once you know what parts to get.
best advice at this point
www.newegg.com
once you do a little research you'll find building a computer is not such a daunting task as you might have once believed. im sure anyone here at XtremeSystems would be happy to help you, if you have any questions jus pm me

.....this is by far one of the nicest group of guys you will see in any forum. Try it yourself and asks all the questions you might think are dumb. We all been there..........

If you do decide to build your own computer you will find that the building process is almost as much fun as ordering it yourself. Once you ahve finished your first comp, and it whoops you friend's dell that cost him 3.5k when you spent under 1k you will feel damn good about yourself :D
btw...beware, building a computer, and hanging out in these forums leads to XTREME modding...there is no way around it. In a few years you will own a modded prommy, or a custom made chiller with your proc in -c's :D

Thank you.
I've got a couple questions.
Any advantage in choosing either AMD or Intel?
What's the difference between Athlon64 and Athlon FX-51, Opteron, etc. Is there a good site I can read about that stuff?
there is a TON of stuff on proccessors in these forums, check out the AMD and INTEL sections. Also, how big of a budget do you have for this comp? im sure we could help you out with the parts
