try leaving HT on for your validation runs. if this cpu behaves like i think it might that will allow you to get it colder and run higher volts. but that may only work if you do it on a board whose pwm that wasn't designed by a two year old corporate whore.

very impressive results for a single stage. I cant wait until my phase unit finally arrives from dimastech. What temps were you getting at full load?

Nice chip for a stolen chip ...
This one is not stolen i guess (it cames from KJ then Francis)...
But it's quite good for single stage. I just wonder why the previous owner was able to reach only the same clocks with 2 stages...

Well no matter how many 940s @ 5GHz+ I see, I've lost my faith to that CPU. It's sad, watching a B0 ES golden CPU hitting sky-high frequencies, and on the other hand retail 940s C0 that can't be 3D stable @ 4GHz on air ...
But anyway, nice results man !

Your guess is bad, the chip have been stolen from KJ  and he got all proofs of this ;)
About Francis cascade results, I guess it's Brice28's cascade that's not working as it should

George I agree with you, but this isn't a common i7 940, it's the extreme edition of i7 940.....:D

Sofos I'm a hundred percent aware of the fact it's a 940XE CPU. I simply chose to compare it to the retail 940 results I've seen over the past few months, because the extreme edition is only available on ES versions :p: And if I recall correctly (my mind keeps getting worse these last days - too much studying for university exams :() bob was one of the first - if not the first - with such a CPU ;)

Ok, maybe. I didn't know this. I was just thinking it was a joke from pt1t concerning the past events....That's sad !:shakes:

ES + multi unlocked probably means that it's handpicked CPUs....Not standards 940 ;)

Bob explains me that it's just because Intel haven't produce 965 B0, so they unlock some 940 to simulate 965 when they were at the B0 step.

No, I never had any Handpicked CPU in my hands and don't have the necessary contacts for it
Neither my golden 940XE or the 3 others pcs coming from KJ were handpicked, as Bob thought, 940XE is very old batch/cpu that were unlocked to simulate 965, the pieces I've got even had nothing written on the IHS...
If I recall correctly, there was 20pcs and we bought 4, it's only by luck I got the best 3 pcs in my hands, from what I know, all others where suxxors... BTW if you look at the 940XE pt1t had get, it was a perfect suxxor so no handpick at all here, just a lucky find

Ok, so you were definitely really lucky, because most of B0 used to be great suckers :p:
