View Full Version : Asus RE/Evga 790i ulta sli test on dice.

Had sold almost all my hardware before taking one mounth holliday i Thailand. (Thanks for a good time ZoLKoRn, iZe, Beew)
Back in the borring everyday life, it was time to try to snap of the "after holliday Depression "

The new Hardware was a E8600 Q822A435, Asus Rampage Extreme, Evga 790i ultra sli, og 45 Kilo dice.

Day 1.
Asus Rampage would boote fsb 630 with all air, and run spi 1m fsb 635.

Rampage Extreme With dice on cpu, nb and sb stock cooling
Max fsb spi 1m 650

I mountet a pot on one of my Evga 8800 Ultra, but unfortenently it crashed when gpu-v extended 1.7V.
Last time the Gpu was able to run with 1.9V :confused:

I have high hopes, for this cpu/mainboard
Next bench session with ln2 will show if my hopes are going to be shattered.

Time to test the evga 790i, i mountet cpu pot and nb pot.
I was happy to learn that the nb, did not have coldbug down to -70
To my big surprise the Evga did not stop before hitting fsb 580, with multi 10, and pci-e on 160hz :shocked:

After, i tested max 3D fsb with low multi and ended up with 605.
With vSPP-Mod and ln2 i hope to hit maybe 620.

wow thats pretty high pci express frequency that you have been able to pull off on your board, my absolute best with evga 790i ultra was 145 :D

A435 on 5.8GHz on DICE..erm...that must go more. You've tried 9,5 multy?
Great setup but you have to tweak that more.

This was just to test mainboard, cpu will be pushed when benching ln2.

ahhhhh the fabled A435 nice Dice runs, yes the LN2 will rock that chip.

nice results! eager to see what that chip will do with some LN2!

790i was one of my favorite boards to play with. Never got to make it go cold though (fsb wall @ 550 so no point)

it was always a swan to me - it just looked like an ugly duckling LOL - was beautiful with my E8500 :D

Still have a 4 or 5 dddr2 kit, i just bougt a naked set og micron GTS, they will suffer the bitter cold of my ram pot.
hopefully on my evga, 790i is a great ram overclocking board.

Somting happend with the board after first Dice bench, not able to reach same speeds anymore.
Im afraid it will have to live the remaining of its days, in a dark kabinet running near to stock speeds, a mere shadow of what might have been.
