We recieved this board couple of days ago at the shop. Boblemagnifique quickly tried it first but didn't really had time.

Well, I've started playing with it yesterday and had hard times figuring out how to properly use it.

Both the motherboard and the chip aren't hand picked... just out of the box.

So please don't pay attention to time efficiency, it's more likely brutal BCLK clocking here. As you'll see it was required to sacrify timings in order to push up the BCLK.

114MHz pci-e finally proved to be good enough.

http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/1037/classi1.jpg

1.35vtt was too much, I used 1.3v.

By setting maxmem to 600 and Memory Low Gap to 2.5Gb I did 248.4x21 Spi32M as well. I've to say, to improve stability you DO need maxmem=600, nothing to do with efficiency but with stability. ;)

Tomorrow I'll put the setup under another cascade...

The classified strikes again with the DO, i am so waiting for eveythng to come in and DO it to.

great stuff, it's just awesome that you ran that with retail gear, monster job.
plus love that rig you got there --- rippin it with the "red arm"

Thanks buddy ;) Hopefully I'll broke 250BCLK today with more cold.

Thanks ;) I was sceptical to be honest; but thanks to an unexpected monster CPU I've been able to push the Classified up and really enjoyed it. :p:

Very true buddy :) IMHO what makes the difference between the Classified and another board are all those BIOS settings that can be adjusted when hitting a BCLK wall. I mean, the DFI X58 DK does a decent job here but I've got no way demolishing a ~235BCLK wall.... Basically you've to pray for a CPU that perfectly fit with default settings of the board if you wanna go to big BCLK skies...

Here's 248.4x21. Time is awfull for those clocks but I had to loose timings in order to push out the BCLK.

249x21 is possible I guess. But more the BCLK, slower the time! :p:

Thanks George. Well yes, perhaps a matter with high pci-e? Dunno actually.

you need very low voltage for this great clocks  - my chips needs more vcore...

IŽve tested my first EVGA Classified for a few weeks and the board / cpu needs vtt +350 for high bclock - my new Classified and CPU wonŽt run good with high VTT - best setting ist +125 to +150 (like in your setting) for pushing bclock.

Played on the weekend a little bit with dry ice - since iŽve got the classified i canŽt stop benching :D...

Well I've spent hours trying to brake 7mins but the system is too unstable; looks like it won't succeed, each time it's computing as fast as required, it never ever passes 23th loop no matter the clocks... looks like bandwidth unstability to me. :)

Here's the cascade. Needs a bit more of insulation, and to find a nice color to paint it.

Finally did it guys... but what a challenge with such unstability! :) Switched to last beta bios which proved to be a bit more stable at high BCLK (might be a matter of VREF)

you have killer chip too man
good bclk with a low vtt,i'll test it this weekend if have time.

before
05-19-2009, 07:27 AM
Thanks mate :) my chip doesn't like vtt too much, 1.3v looks just fine (actually 1.3v correponds to 1.27-1.28v under load, checked that this afternoon with DMM). Same thing with vcore, I've set 1.42v for being safe but 1.41v might be enough. :)
