Once again, a distinguished member of the xtremesystems community is carrying the heavy burden of over-exposure.
Today's victim is chew* with help from Dumo, msimax, and EnJoY.
The video was shot mostly by chew* with help from friends and family.
Proof again that the XS community is the Proving Grounds.

I will put up a torrent presently so you can see it in bandwidth-unconstrained high definition.

No. I don't think this was any of the video I shot or they called in the worlds best editing guy!
I was at chews house a few weeks back but I think this was shot at a later time. Don't quote me but thats what I think.
It was a pleasure to spend the day with these guys.
REAL sharp dudes and the best way I can say it is they were determined and just plain non stop.
Great day for me spent with excellent people.

My brother in law in Iraq just watched the video (whilst dodging bullets) and asked me "So what does it all mean?" to which my sister answered "that one day we will be able to rip the fabric of space-time..." which was much better than my explanation "We are one step closer to the singularity..."

Yes, it was my privledge and a day you don't forget.
I don't get into working with LN2 but meeting good people is always a pleasure.
Chew was a great host.
Msimax was one of those guys you like the second you meet him.
Big smile and a hand stuck out in friendship.
Dumo was someone I always wanted to meet.
Have read his posts since I first came here back in 2005.
Again, a big smile and a genuinely nice guy.
Watch him work and you see a pro in action.
Enjoy drove down and back with me so he needs a big  just for surviving that.
The Dr's say his hearing should return to normal in a few months!:p:
It was very nice of AMD to include my name at the end but honestly I did very little.
It was a day where I just tried to stay out of their way and do what was needed to help.

Be sure to DIGG this (http://digg.com/hardware/PROVING_GROUNDS_PHENOM_II_OVERCLOCKING) guys, for those of you who support AMD and the grassroots overclocking investments that they do that Chew* so perfectly exemplifies!

Seems like whenever a mobo manufacturer listens to an XS pro and tweaks their bios based on those suggestions we wind up getting much better products, both boards and bios!
It happened with the MSI K9A2 Plat and KTE, and now it's happening with chew* and the Gigabyte boards!
I'll be upgrading my mobo soon and I was seriously considering the MSI GD70, but after seeing the work chew* has done, and the fact that Gigabyte seems to be listening I may have to rethink my purchase... ;)
True excellence all the way around, testing, video/production quality and of course results! A big THUMBS UP to all involved...:up::up::up:
Thanks for your hours of work Brian, no wonder you get free gear to test. :D
(I'm still not sure thats payment enough...)

Thx for all the kind words.
Many thanks to all those that helped out and special thanks to AMD for having the guts and taking they're chances with someone that isn't one of the "TOP Dawgs"
Special thanks goes out to (macci) Sammi Makinen, someone I have the utmost respect for and has inspired me to push my hardest for a very long time......

What's the purpose of sliding a razer blade in the DIMM slot?

Torrent could use some more seeders. I'll leave it on for a few days once I complete the download.
It's very nice to see Chew getting some appreciation, and the video is slick and complimentary. I couldn't take it very seriously though, I hope it was intended to be a little bit over the top. I kept thinking "Internets is serious business".
I also liked the disclaimer at the end... after all the LN goodness we get hit with a page saying "For gods sakes don't overclock, it's bad!".
Anyway, Chew is great for what he does here. I just hope he realises that those hordes of women hammering at his door aren't after the real Chew*, they're after his fame and fortune.

What's the purpose of sliding a razer blade in the DIMM slot?
I've never actually done any Xtreme cooling, but I'm pretty sure you want to put tape over the ram slots to prevent condensation from causing a short.
I think he was just cutting the tape so he could insert the ram... ;)
chew*
05-10-2009, 09:13 PM
If you look close the razor blade was blade up in that shot....I was using the backside to pack eraser in the crevice in between the ram slots ;) crevices = air pockets, air pockets = frost and or
condensation. Empty slots get taped over and sealed right over with eraser.
You can see that the ram slots are insulated all around on the finished product. Condensation in the ram slots can ruin your day in more ways then one, waste Ln2 best case scenario.....worst case it will take out board, cpu, ram and possibly a PSU.
