Hello,

My friend Raven29 and me got a Phenom 2 940 and a M4A79 Dlx, so we decided to try it under LN2.
It was my first experience with AMD and he was a bit familiar with old 939s...:p:

Here is some pics :

We got some issues because we had no software to increase fsb thru windows. Turbo V and Overdrive were down, so we just discover K10stat (thx marmott) and we was able to change only the cpu multi...Not really good for the maxscreen :D

As you can see, we make our Pifast at lower clocks than Spi 32M. In fact, we did it around 19.08 5840Mhz, but i wasn't able to screen it...only the pifast window, but no CPUz...

I hope we will make it better next time :p:

That's some brutal ram clocks you guys got there! Very nicew first attempt at AMD.

Good job on that first run with AMD

Thanks a lot.
In fact, my first kit od D9GMH was good, but not good enough. I was able to reach 570Mhz, 600 for light bench (like 1M). But when i plug the 2nd kit, it just go to 680 easily i would say. So i think IMC of Phenom 2 is not so bad :)

Memory freq. is really sick :D I'm waiting to see some 955 in yours hadns with that pot ;)

Héhé...Next time, i think it will be my own CPU pot. if not, it will be yours :D

Your mem clocks 680 is impressive. What vmem are you running? I have two kits of Ballistix 8500 (one old and one new) I hope I have same luck as you :D

2.42vdimm. Maybe 2.32v is enough, because i have set this once. 32m crashed, so i thought it was the vdimm, but in fact it was the NB which was too high (4Ghz was impossible)...
Anyway, this kit is 730 C5 2.2v 1M capable (it's a second hand, i have buy it for 45€ :D)

Really nice clocking guys !
I was  when I saw mem clocks!

Great stuff!

Extremely nice. I just had my first Phenom II experience (spent the night pouring LN2 for elmor), that was completely worthless, we managed 4.9GHz somewhat stable and found out the CPU had a coldbug at -125c or so. Wish we had a experience more similar to yours. :D

be careful pushing the vdimm up the IMC is manufactured on 32nm and does not handle volts very well mine died in 2hrs@3.5v (D9DCD )

Ah, so some chips have coldbug ! Sorry for you, i hope you'll enjoy it next time :yepp:

I hope you mean 2.5v. But thanks for the information. Your CPU died with extreme cooling or aircooling ? Because i believe 2.4v (for example) is not as dangerous on LN2 than on aircooling...

...the IMC is manufactured on 32nm...

What makes you say that? It's 45nm like the rest of the core.

2,4 vdimm is no good for aircooling, huh? I need find the limit to let memories live longer ;) max v 2,32?

2.4v is a low voltage for DDR2 memory, I gave my ballistix 2.8v and they are still alive and work very fine ;)

what vdimm is recommended for 24/7 and benching for those Ballistix?

I didnt even imagine such as v2.9-3.5

I wouldn't go past 2.3V for 24/7 for DDR2 D9's, 2.6-2.7V is no problem for benching.

I agree for 2.3v 24/7, but i won't set more than 2.5 to my D9gmh :p: Maybe more for 1m, but for sure not for 32M/3Dbenching

I pumped 2.7 into my D9 Ballistix for a 5 hour bench session and they were fine. I also dont go above 2.2 or 2.3 for daily use though.
