Very impressive stuff... good news since I actually bought 2 4890 cards... I'm going to pick the 2nd one up tomorrow, but omg did you try the fans @ 100%?
Imagine 3 of them at that level lol... time for watercooling I guess :D

btw where did you get the D0?
Seems to clock very good, like I thought it would

Nice  Having a hard time getting high bclk on air with 21+1 multi for now, need to work on that. Didnt use X-Cool only from bios and had bug at about -90 and boot -65 so i hope setting the jumper properly helps :D I Do not have any screens with monitoring tab in it, wil think about it next time. Looking forward to your vapo results, enjoy.

I can't claim to have helped too much, that was mostly raja's awesome knowledge helping us both :)

I think I might have to find myself a beefier PSU with 2 8pin 12v and more wattage for the video cards ;)

Back in black  No problems at all with 2 or 3 cards on the board. Only 1 4870X2 here now so cannot try with 2 of them.

have you tested 3d performance vs other boards with multiple gfxs..?

some say the classified is slow...

hey bart, I meant to ask you a question about your PSU setup the other day...what is your second PSU there running, is it just the few 120mm fans lying around?

Reason I ask is because a couple of days ago I tried adding a third 4890 to my setup and bought a Thermaltake 1500W PSU to replace my Coolermaster RealPower 1kW PSU to provide some more juice and all the connectors I need.

The system boots fine but as I go into CCC and up the clocks on the 4890s the system gets slower and slower as I drag the sliders across until it locks up completely as I change them on the third card. Im thinking it is a problem with getting enough power to the cards. Ive seen some decent systems running with the Thermaltake 1500 and thought it would be ok but it seems it cant handle them. How do you find the PCP&C 1200W...did you add the second PSU because you were having problems with it?

Looking very good there mate

weird stuff gaidin, tried different drivers ?

gaidin
05-06-2009, 08:34 PM
hi george, potentially it could be a driver problem? This was running cat9.4s on Win7 RC1 and I had a hell of a time getting CCC to work (the standard ccc/driver package wouldnt install and I had to install drivers first manually, then ccc) so that could be a potential cause of the problem.

Anyway I got jack of Win7 during the process and blasted it with Vista x64 to go back to a platform that I know will handle the Cat9.4s properly ;)

I was getting a bit tetchy at the time having just dropped AU$850 in an effort to get another 2-3K 3D06 marks over the 2x4890s that I cracked 30K with the day before hehe

I wil soon. Only have GB here right now for a second board which aint the fastest either :D

Gaidin mate the small PSU is only for the fans so that they keep running even if system is off due to coldbug or whatever other reason. I like to keep air moving over the board when this cold.

Running RC1 with the cat 9.4 complete package here as wel. If system can run 3Dmark with 3 cards at stock its not power thats causing lockup when moving sliders id think, thats stil in 2D. You could always try to hook up 1 or 2 cards to the second PSU to see if that helps. I love the PCP&Cooling but its rather loud (some people might mind that :D) Never had any trouble with it. Good luck

guys try the newer 9.4 (8.612WHQL) Win7 drivers May 5, 2009 versions http://i4memory.com/f18/ati-windows-7-driver-thread-17357/ much better for me, i couldn't even load CCC with original 9.4 drivers on Win7 64bit RC heh

ok cheers so the PCP&C is running pretty much everything hmmm I can see myself tearing my hair out trying to figure this one out... I can 3D bench at 4.8G with 2 4890s @ 970/1100 but then as soon as I add the third I cant even complete a full test with the CPU @ 4.4G and the cards at stock without it just BSOD. Maybe next time I'll play around with dropping the volts down a bit? Its all fun and games :yepp:

RC1 (7100) was slower for me then 7077 with first cat 9,4s. With the one from 5/5/09 all is same again

Hi gaidin

It could possibly be the psu. I have a TT1500 and couldnt get my board to boot when I first set up. Swapped it out with an Odin 1200W and everything is running fine. Swapped back - again no boot.

On the evga forums there is lots of noise about compatibility of PSU's with the board - but there are lots of conflicting stories about what works and what doesnt (eg - the Odin is on the not compatible list )

loc.o are you on Windows 7 right?

Could you please chech the performance index built-in bechmark?
I'm interested in the gaming graphics test, as it's the only one I have never seen a 7.9 score in. It would be quite funny that we could have a rig that performs at max with current hardware in a OS benchmark that is supposed to be released in a +6-month time from now.

So when was that next dewar full of LN2 arriving Bart? Looking forward to seeing the results ;)

Are you increasing the volts for the 4890s? Just CCC to overclock or a BIOS flash? :)

Very nice Loc.O, but you might give a try to the 7022 build, from what I thought on Vantage, I can pretty much says it's the fastest seven version for this bench ;)
