Just replaced my abit 680i with with an Asus Striker eXtreme that I got on the cheap. I pulled the chipset/mosfet heatpipe off and reset it and after a few days it has settled to about 64c at room temp running an e8400 at stock. Seems a little warm to me so I thought that maybe it was loose so I press in hard on the northbridge section but it only drops down to 61c.
Funny thing is when I touch it it does not feel60c+ to me but feels quite cool however both everest 5 & asus pc probe register the same mcp temp. What are the odds their reporting is inaccurate?

Also is there supposed to be a fan for this thing or am I going to have to work with this? It's got a really odd shape so putting on a normal fan may be a challenge.
Bios shows no mcp only cpu(30) & motherboard(34) (and opt 1, 2 & 3 which don't show).
My case is cool as can be and the cpu idles at 27c.

Pick up one of these badboys....it'll do the job and it's easy to work with. http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=ODA=

I owned a Striker Extreme. I'll refrain from any comments on the board though ;)

I actually own two of those spotfans. They work magically especially for memory and NB if you can somewhat place it properly, which is hard sometimes if youhave lots of tall heatsinks and the video card sits really close to the NB.
