View Full Version : Any idea how soon, if even this year will 30k be met?

we had thought the first 30k score would happen in Feb of 2004, but maybe itll happen earlier. any prediction guys?
The last week or two we have seen leaps and bounds... Fugger leading the way with the EE and OPP on his tail with the A64...not to mention bowman taking OPP's 9800pro for another spin and squeezing a little more out...
All in all, not a bad week for XS :toast:
Bottom line...I think we will see 30k before the end of 03.

I like to asks questions, lots of em to the point I sometimes forget to congratulate someone but bowman did good, especially beating opp in nature on a lower clocked 9800 pro :)

have you gotten an athlon fx and did it help any? we are curious. also I have a question about your nature. I applaud your honesity, but I wonder if your 200+ score was really a bugged run like you said. I notice bowman and fugger both beat you in nature on lower clock speed 9800's

mickey, you need to back off alittle.
at some point we all had to ask questions and take the time to learn, so he has 10,000 questions, we'll answer them all, even the 10,001 question.
at some point we all needed someone to answer something.
I can't even imagine how many times Mr. Icee endured my endless questions...
or even you helping me with the Vmods :D

Ive heard ya judge and ask 10000 "WHY THIS" questions over your total 76 posts and almost never gave a "GOOD JOB" or other... ya just questioned bowmans 28k score without saying good job of the rest of the stuff he achived.. if your going to judge ya need to support what else goes on some more..
no offense my man just kick it down a small notch :)
That was a bit harsh. Most of us here are always willing to help those who ask and a bad question is in my opinion the unanswered question and as always if you dont have anything constructive to say dont say it.

i think Fugger's got a back up score with the EE. i remember him saying he got 29.5k, but no compare links... so , 500 points seperating him and 30k which is sooo close!
i'm sweating it, but i think the Athlon 64 FX-51 is gonna take it down. it's worth 1000pts over A64 3200+ for sure. And Oppainter already has 29.1k.
Maybe Fugger has a back up score but I remember him saying that he didnt like backup scores as its no use having them sit there doing nothing. Welcome to the Xtreme!

Hey Ti4200
I find your endless posting to be amusing, and the way u right *whoaa! it makes a thread interesting to read, because u ask all the unanswered questions? Like - Will 30k be broken this year? Has Fugger got enough backups? How about Bowmann will he able to reach the magic 30k first? Charlie, is he gonna' be the one? - He only needs a good XT!
:P Thank you for u'r nice inputs, and sorry for my bad english.
*edit*
Ps. Maybe u should be a writer or something? :p:

We had this discussion before and a lot thought it would take the next gen video card. I think witht these new scores, people are changing their tune.
It has been a ride indded. The smashing of 26k as a top score and the fact that there are three different chip families from the two big companies that can any day by the next #1.

I'd say it'll be broken if there is a new motherboard out for the A64, or if someone get's a "miracle" 3.2EE.
I think it will take one of those, though I may be wrong.
We all have questions, and god knows kunaak puts up with a lot of mine. :)

i think it will be broken whenever someone gets a good FX51 setup going or when the 3.2EE retails are available (or even better, the 3.4's)

I was wondering if we could help possibly.
Although I know that top benchers dont reveal secrets, maybe we could help revise your benching ways even so! Hey we want someone from xS to get to the top :D :)

I wonder if oppainter's athlon fx helped, heard he was getting one. Yes I like to ask lots of questions but thats how I learn :)

I didn't think it would soon but now I think it will. Not only are more and more people going to be getting FX/EE's but people seem to be going into this cascade cooling route. Macci has mentioned his new cascade and the desire to find a P4 EE, I can't imagine he would be too far off with that.
I'm not sure who will do it first though, hopefully someone from Xtreme of course.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone around here has already seen 30k, and just hasn't posted it, or hasn't been allowed to....
Another thing thats pretty neat to imagine is that ATI and Nvidia probably test their prototype cards inhouse using 3dmark. Meaning that they've probably witnessed over 30K while testing the next gen cards.
(Of course they use many other programs/games as well, but they know people love to see 3dmark, so they gotta make that work)

"I wouldn't be surprised if someone around here has already seen 30k, and just hasn't posted it, or hasn't been allowed to...."
does ati have a prototype pci express r420 or something with an athlon 64? thatll be neat. 2001 depends on cpu alot, but 2003 may be a much better reprensation of gpu strength :)

Well, naturally I'd assume ATI and Nvidia would have to have prototypes of any card they plan to release... It'd be rather strange if they didn't, don't you think?:p: Plus, they probably do some overclocking of their own (think intel's engineering samples...) , whether or not its less extreme or more extreme then the stuff people like fugger are using we'll never know...

I have estimated once the r420 comes out it should dish out 220fps in nature at stock, 250+ overclocked. nature doesnt depend on cpu speed unless your cpu is like below 1GHz
