i have a really old AMD mobo that's starting to crap out on me after about 6 years. how can i take the current hard drive and put it on a new intel platform without wiping the data for a new installation?

here is what i'm thinking, but please let me know if it'll work. first go to device manager and uninstall AMD under processor, and uninstall any chipset drivers. then install all the chipset drivers for the intel mobo first, then take the HD and just plug it into the new intel platform. would this work?

If you're not running raid or such. Also you can run sfc /scannow to load all windows files into the dllcache, then proceed with your method. You can't uninstall and install intel chipset drivers without it being present, so once you uninstall AMD drivers, the system will ask to reboot immediately; swap cpus before you boot into windows again.
