Hi, I recently bought a new intel i7 920 D0 Steeping to replace my i7 920 C0. but after a few test I found the new C0 Temp reading in my Motherboard (BTW With the latest Bios) Show that is about 8 degrees hot. What Should do Keep the old one?
Thanks

Try with the latest beta version of Coretemp.

Latest Versions:

Core Temp - 32bit Version 0.99.5 (Build 20) - 12th March, 2009 (http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/CoreTemp32Beta2.rar)

Core Temp - 64bit Version 0.99.5 (Build 20) - 12th March, 2009 (http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/CoreTemp64Beta2.rar)

Seems to me most likely means you apply your cpu paste improperly this time. Temp should be roughly the same at same ghz maybe little less if you are able to run at lower voltage. I notice when I put too much paste the temp goes up about 10c and if I dont put enough (razorblade method on a cpu thats not lapped) it also goes about 10c high, when I get it just perfect temp is very noticeable decrease under load.

If the chips were the exact same besides being c0 or d0 they would run the same temp at same voltage and speed. Try a remount

Different chips have different temps, due to VID and other C0/D0 differences. Often the hot runnign chips aint bad :D

Not really that drastic of a change considering cores on i7 vary that much between eachother. Like loc.o said, sometimes the hot chips are the good chips :D

These chips are strange, I just got another C0 last one could run 1.476 volt @4ghz ht on and temps got in 90's with a True, This next one I just recieved still C0 will hit the 90's at 4ghz 1.36 volt.

Makes me wonder about the d0's I guess since they have even lower voltage that I would be even higher temps at 1.36 with one of them. Are people able to actually run higher stable OC on air with d0 or does it just get higher validation because the temps are too much?
