badass graphs
id still take the 4830 over a 4770. More ocing potential.

is it me or is that first spec graph/pic really unsharp? kinda hurts my eyes to look at it...
and theres an even better 4830 coming soon! :D
for system integrators 4770 should be more interesting, probably cheaper, less tdp, higher clocks...
but for US 4830s are way more interesting since they can be overclocked better... well, we will see how well rv740 clocks...

HD4770 is 40nm. I have high hopes for some stellar 1GHZ+ overclocks with a little work

The 4770 has a much better cooler and much lower power consumption than the 4830/4850. Also, GDDR5 @ 800MHz. You're fooling yourself if you think the 4770 is going to be a slouch for overclocking.
Personally, even disregarding OC potential, I'd rather have the 4770 than the 4850 just because of the lower power consumption, and hopefully quieter cooler that ejects the heat out the rear of the case.

Aren't all these great cards going to saturate ATI's own great card market?
I mean: 4830/4850/4870 are less than $25 from within each other, the 4770 might only add to the confusion.
But I hope the 4870/4850 gets phased out by the 4890, 4770, and 4830 (hopefully only crippled 4850 by bios :p: )

it looks like the ram bandwidth is holding it back, i want to see the ocing and temps, the stock is 800mhz gddr5 so since that is most likely way under rated using 900-950 shouldent be a problem and would be at the bandwidth of the 4850 and i would then expect the 4770 to beat the 4850, or atleast i hope. then with less shaders and more clock it should keep better minimum frames in xfire.

i think the 4770 will replace the 4850 and 4830 in the long run, and the 4890 will replace the 4870
These are not REAL measuring! This is numbers from official AMD 4770 Press Kit, wait for real numbers ...

I don't see why some expect miraculous 1GHz+ clocks out of RV740. Current 40nm is just a general purpose process, not like the high end 55GT.

Even assuming the worst case scenario for core overclocks, the stock 4770 has just as much computing power (slightly less in some areas, slightly or moderately more in others) as the 4850. Where it falls short is memory bandwidth, and that 800MHz GDDR5 is going to OC like a mad.

TSMCs current 40nm suffer from heavy leakage so I doubt it...

I think that's power draw on the side..... with 100% vs 60%.
this card still looks like a sub $100 with gddr5 on 128 bit.

the ram should get the 1ghz oc or atleast 950 fthe core i will bet 800minimum and leakage isnt a huge problem on a small die with low wattage depending on the temps thats why i want to see the temps

The appeal to me about this card may be the significantly less power draw and presumably less heat to go with it. Graphics cards are just beastly anymore! Anyone wanna buy a 4830 cheap? :D

High leakage will overclock nicely if you manged to keep it cool

Pfffft. Says who? Fudzilla? Give me a break. We already know that, on the mobile end, they were able to clock the mobility 4860 (RV740 based) to the level where it outperformed the mobility 4850 with lower power consumption. People need to stop regurgatating this myth like it's fact.
Pricing should be around $79.99-99.99, 4850's are now that cheap, also 9800GT's are below $100 now as well and would most likely be better than this card.

LMAO... So 9800GT's magically get a 20-30% performance boost because you say so?
A 4830 beats a 9800GT by that margin and you are saying that the 4770, which is near a 4850 if not slightly better, is worse than the 9800GT?
Give me a break. Stop spouting BS.

ATI have put out the cleanest pcb designs on a consistent basis, they usually look so neat ....but this looks to be rushed and cheaped out

If it's close to 4850 in performance it will most definitely beat the 9800GT... The 4830 trades blows with the 9800GT and the 4770 is better than 4830 according to Guru3d.

There are lots of capacitors missing in that PCB. I wonder if there'll be a 4790 version at high clocks.

So it has >90% the performance of a 4850 with 50% the power consumption, and low pricing, if I understood those weird graphs correctly? Hopefully there will be passively cooled versions without the extra power connector and a shorter PCB, I'd love one for my HTPC.

It's funny looking at that core and the GT200 core side by side. It really makes you understand why Nvidia has been losing money on their cards. :D

that is an awesome looking card, its like a mini 4890, and they kept the ram sinks for easy OEM cooling that the higher end cards have, now we just need an x2 of this with voltera pwms in a standard length card

YES, but why? No one has samples for reviews now ... This is pure paper-paper launch without reviews ... and without cards.

ATI dropped the ball on this one. No one has cards and many of the reference cards which were sent out have issues with their fan speed controllers.
Supposedly, people can now post their reviews when they are done and not wait for the 28th. I'll believe that when I see it.

Ummm... If you were everywhere you would realize that certain markets already have released them to retail.
This bump up of NDA is to combat those early releases.
