Chip titan Intel has now tweaked its processor offer by making a few price adjustments and introducing a two more LGA775 quad-cores. The Core 2 Quad Q8400 and Q8400S are both made on 45nm technology, feature a frequency of 2.66 GHz, a 1333 MHz FSB and 4MB of L2 cache. The 95W TDP Q8400 and 65W Q8400S cost $183 and $245 respectively.

As for the price cuts, the desktop-prone Q9300, Q9550S, Q9400S and Q8200S went down to $213, $320, $277 and $213 respectively, while three mobile and three server processors, all listed below, faced slashes between 2% and 18%.

It's kind of nice to see them still putting out products for S775.

Even though this is XS, I think there are still a lot of us who have not upgraded to i7 yet. Why buy the X58 board when the mainstream board should clock just as well for hundreds less? Hell I might even upgrade to the Q9650 for $300 instead of dropping $8-900 for the i7, X58, and DDR3... But TBH until games use more cores my little e8400 is still smoking fast!

I agree. I've been trying to find a good reason to get rid of my e8400 and Q9550. I'm still waiting for a reason.

I upgraded from an 8400 to a Q9550 and wished I'd done it sooner. I do more than just play games.

SP9400 will be my choice when 775 is about to die and its really cheap. I wont go i7 or PHII, ill wait for the next gen.

An 45nm quad with 9x multi will be more than enough to me.

Does this mean that the original Q9550 is a goner? :(

Still nice cuts. Good to see them still lowering the prices. Makes the quads cores at even a nice price to make CRUNCHING MACHINES
