Intel® Processor Ratings are designed to help you easily decide which processor is best for your needs. Just look for the stars next to the processor badges to determine their different levels of processing power.
Processor Rating
Each processor is assigned between one and five stars depending on a combination of features, including cores, GHz, cache, and other technologies. More stars indicate greater features and increased capabilities compared to other Intel® processors.

stickers for noobs.... just like sticker tuning on cars :D
if you would just follow the price tag you can have the same idea.
btw nice to see they put the Q6000 series into the energy efficient bucket... I am sure all those B3 owners feel happy with this.....

Whats this "intelligence" bs they have posted in the description?
They are trying to pull the same "cool factor" argument apple has been trying for years? My cpu is smarter than yours, look at its SAT scores.

Well with increasingly confusing names like Core 2 Duo/Pentium Dual Core E6300 (with the latter being faster and cheaper) it makes sense. (of course this wouldn't have been a problem if Intel just had stuck with a more sensible naming scheme :shakes:)

And what do you think would be more sensible? :p:
Talking big while offering no ideas is cheap :p:

what about newer chips? will they all be 5 stars or will older chips have their stars reduced, or is it not designed across platforms

So Q9300 is now considered better than Q6600 or QX6800?
This is almost as big a failure as GTS250.

I believe they are only talking about processors that are currently in production. Intel does not also account for overclocking. The Q9300 is faster than a Q6600 if both are at stock speeds and I'm fairly sure it's also faster than a Q6700 at stock speeds.
Having said that, this new rating system is pretty useless though.

Lol! Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Review sites don't even have to talk crap about intel cpu's anymore since intel do it for you. Don't buy this cpu because it is rated one star. The whole idea of calling it a "rating system" is stupid. What's wrong with the tiered system (entry level, middle, enthusiast etc.)? Can you imagine Crysis graphic settings are named: crappy, less crappy, mediocre and only for the filthy rich.

rating your own products in general just seems stupid, of course the latest and greatest processor is going to be five stars.
