I just got my 4830 yesterday, and I've already gotten it to 770/1100 stable for daily use and 790/1150 works for benchies. All with just a bios flash.
However, even after shading the resister down to .625ohms I can't get it higher than 790. I'm going to go out and buy a better pencil and do it will an 8b or 4b pencil because I just used the 2hb pencil i had lying around. I lapped the sink fast, but it was pretty flat and shiny already. I used AS5 when I remounted it.
After that whole trip i shaved around 3 or 4 degrees off of my furmark 120sec load. It now sits somewhere around 54* at 770MHz.
I want to push it up to 800Mhz, is it possible that my pencil just wore off from the airflow because I used such a soft pencil?
I used this guide:

Maybe an 8B pencil will help. Also, VRM temperature may be a culprit in limiting your OC as well.
