Hello all, I'm new to the forums here...I believe I'm in the right place to post this; if not just inform me and I will change it. So basically I want to know if the below mentioned system is balanced, good for the money, etc. Also, any hardware clashes? And I put a higher wattage PSU to hopefully take advantage of SLI (or crossfire) in the future. BTW, this will be my first build so I'm sure I'll be back here many more times in the near future :)

Case: Coolermaster 690
CPU: Core i7 920
Mobo: Asus P6T Deluxe V2
Memory: OCZ Plat 6Gb (PC12800)
GPU: EVGA gtx260 core 216
HDD: WD 6401AALS
Optical drive: Asus 22x dvd burner something rather (already have)
PSU: Corsair 850TX (for future sli when I get more money)
OS: Vista Home Premium system builders (upgrade to 7 when available in retail)

BTW, this will be my first build so I'm sure I'll be back here many more times in the near future :)

1. EVGA if you want better warranty.
2. Look at the WD6400AAKS or the WD6401AALS. 640GB, Western Digital. Faster. Same price or cheaper.
3. Do not get a Rosewill PSU. Antec, Enermax, PC Power & Cooling, or my fav Silverstone. I'd go with 500-600W if you're not OCing or just want single GPU.

Case? What do you want out of it. I'd get something quiet.

Also look into fans, CPU & GPU coolers. You want performance or quiet?

Overall it looks good. Personally I'm not a fan of the case but that is entirely user preference. I would definitely spend the extra $20 on the TX850 for the better support and improved quality. Also, from what I can find I seems the Rosewill only has 6-pin pci-e connectors where the Corsair has 8-pin connectors also.

Best of luck with your first build.

Okay I edited my first post because I decided I'd rather go with more of a quiet case B.E.E.F. Then I changed the hard drive to WD and made the graphics card the EVGA gtx260 core 216 superclocked edition. Also changed ram to Plat cus I read it is better to overclock the i7 with, is this true? Also what CPU coolers would you suggest for i7?

CPU cooler: Thermalright HR-01 (i7 socket kit) combined with a nice 120mm fan. Nexus or Noctua. Scythe makes some slightly noisier, but also better performing fans. Look at SPCR (SilentPCReview) database for the fan benchmarks.

BTW I hope that PSU has a nice big fan inside.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the help B.E.E.F. Yes the PSU has a 140mm fan on the BOTTOM which will work out perfectly with the Coolermaster 690 (bottom mounted PSU with fan vent on bottom of case). I'll check out that CPU cooler for sure. What's the price on it btw?

::EDIT::
So will this build work reliably from the get go? I don't have a problem with it being kinda hard to get running if it comes to that but the components are going to be a gift from my grandpa and I would like to be able to tell him I put it together, turned it on, installed OS/drivers and went.
