Three thoughts:
1. Skip the Antec 900. I swapped mine out (it now runs my XP/Q6600 setup with no optical drives even) for a Coolermaster Cosmos S... I love life now. I really liked the Antec 900, but at some point, I had enough hard drives, video cards, and etc where the Antec 900 gets cramped quickly. Bigger case just means that you have more room to work and add stuff later.
2. Cooler wise, I would suggest just getting a TRUE 120. It is big, old, and pricey, but I still haven't found anything that I like more once two fans are set up in push-pull. I'm sure there are better, but the profile seems to just barely clear anything I need it to on the 4 motherboards I've installed it on. Also, it is still a great cooler, and for 4ghz on air, you'll need it.
3. Hold off on that video card. The new wave of cards is starting to appear which will shake the midrange up a bit. You also will probably want to think about getting more than one card as the people at work who FSX a lot have all moved to 3+ displays.

Welcome to XS  :welcome:

1. Change the PSU to Corsair 750TX
2. Change HDD to Samsung 640GB or 1TB, 320GB platters > 250GB platters.
3. Wait till April 6th for new vid cards to come out.
4. Grab the Gigabyte UD3 X58, its better than the MSI.
5. Far Cry 2 is $29.99 on Steam.
6. This ram is better and cheaper: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227381

Good Luck

No rig can run FSX.

:/

If you're really nuts for FSX, then go for an E8600 and a watercooling kit and clock the hell out of it. 5.0ghz+ It likes dual cores, it also likes nVidia hardware. Go for the GTX280 or the GTX285. It does not like SLi.

FSX was designed to be single threaded. It has service pack that takes advantage of dual core. So get a dual and clock it high.

Well I get 50fps out of my rig running FSX with my PII 940 and it only got 25fps with my old X2 6400+ and thats without any overclocking. The change is truely remarkable at low level flight.

My only suggestion to the OP is to add memory, would suggest you double up on the memory.

Yeah, you're right. Must be the new service pack. Which one are you running?
