OK so I get the death code for blue ray and dvds still work.
I have used it for months as a dvd player but I want to play GTA4.....
So here is the deal. I pop in a blue ray disc it plays for about 5 mins then dies.
It spits out the disc and I pop in another blue ray disc and get the death code. Does not read it at all.
YET
If I put in a dvd let it play for 10 secs pop it out and place in a blue ray disc it will play for a little bit again before it dies.
I always have to put in a dvd before I can even try to use a blue ray.
To me that says that the lazer isnt dirty.
Could the drive itself be dirty? I don't want to spend the 150 to have sony fix the damn thing. If you all think taking it apart and giving it a rubbing alcohol bath everywhere might fix it I'm down. Other wise it will continue to be a up-converting DVD player.
