so i was doing some testng today becuase they turned the air conditoner back on and the ambient temp is finaly below 80F...

and i was fiddiling around with my old delta black label fan from when i had air cooling, and i plugged it in to see how loud it was. and then i turned it to blow air onto my xp1800+ and maze4. my cpu temp dropped a little bit, so i kept it there for a while, and they dropped some more. 20mins later they were still down.... but my case temps went up, this i find strange. i run f@h all the time so i dont think it was a load issue, and my temps are still cooky!

cpu before fan - 38
case before fan - 27

cpu temp now - 32
case now - 28

i know 1C on the case doesnt make much difference, but 6C difference on my CPU!!! f@h didnt just finish or something either, im 40% complete on a 500WU thingie.

is this just my temp monitor (MBM) being wierd, or does the black label fan blowing onto the maze4 help that much?

What motherboard do you have? The extra airflow to an all copper block will help somewhat, but you will probably find that a good deal of this extra "cooling" is because the air is reducing the temperature of the area under the socket heatsink, and therefore reducing the temperature of the socket diode. Also, some of the added effect may be due to the fact that you are cooling the voltage regulators and stuff around the socket.
