I think we should have an award for the most creative contestant. NO, not someone who can afford to have a Vapo or Prometeia on a video card but someone who comes up with a cooling solution that takes some thought. Don't really know what I'm talking about but I'd know it if I saw it. :D

We should have a contest in a contest for the more "normal" people with more "normal" cooling.

Just a thought...

is the L2 cache unlockable? multis?

sorry vlad and all other guys waiting to see the voltages i meassured on the xabre card, my multimeter doesnt work anymore.... must have fried it a few weeks ago the last time i used it... i opened it but nothings burned or anything... it just constantly displays 101.8, no matter what i set it to... :(

damn i should have checked it first, i already had the zalman heatpipe off my card :rolleyes:

im too busy to buy a new multimeter till saturday, but then i will post the voltages.

my powercolor radeon 8500 pro just died :_(

well if i cant fix it i have some nice hynix 3.6ns tsop chips i can solder on the xabre :D

but i wish i could fix the 8500... :/

any idear what i could try? i will meassure all voltages and see if they are alright, i really dont know what to look for... i have no idear how it died...

i think it died when the psu of the sys it was running in blew up... any idear what parts of the card migt be toasted then and what i could try to fix it? there are no marks on the card that give me any sign what could be wrong...

i think i will just add some tiny drops of tin on all pins of the memory chip and then lay it on the pcb with a lot of solder fat on it and heat it up until all pins are making contact, im scared i might not get the extra solder tin off if i make it the way you said... :/

The ones that come with the locked multiplier also have a locked cache(from what I've read). Seems like AMD has really locked these babies down... :(

Well the same process that locked the multi locked the cache. There may be some way around it... i hope there is. But honestly the chip will probably oc and perform fine without it provided you feed it some healthy FSB eh?

In the LifeMapper distributed computing project, I found that times per step without the mod were 32s... while with the mod around 11s. As you can see... some apps really need the added cache. :(

what really surprised me was that 3dmark doesnt seem to care much... diference at the same cklockspeed and fsb is around 500 points

quite some people still havent send me their address, and i still havent received the money from 2 people from belgium :/ i will NOT send those cards before i have received the money.

I would imagine, just for the sake of your PM box, that the only address' that you need PM'd to you are the ones that werent labeled within the Paypal. Or the folks that paid, and not via paypal.

i already asked everybody to send holst their addresses 2 weeks ago, but most people never did.

yeah but i didnt get the paypal money in time, so i had to wait... then i had a week full of exams and couldnt go to köln... when i finally went there last friday the highway was totally overcowded and i didnt reach köln in time... snogard was already closed, so i gave ichwillspeed the money to buy the cards on saturday. i had to return on friday night because i had a maths exam back in hamburg on saturday at 8am (yepp thats right exam at saturday morning :()

so he bought the cards but couldnt find a cheap way to send the cards to me in hamburg. i found a good offer 2 days ago (only 16€ shipping in 2 days and its insured up to 2500€) but olli (ichwillspeed) was really busy in university the last days (studdying law) so he couldnt send me the cards. i just talked to him and he said he will ship them tomorrow so i will get them on friday and start to ship the to everybody on monday.

pheew, im sorry for all the delays, but ive been really busy :(

if i have enough time i can eventually already ship the cards on saturday.

i already missed one exam when i went o köln last time :/ and the maths exam that saturday morning wasnt really nice since i was up for 24hours+ and couldnt concentrate very well, and i didnt have any time to studdy in the last days before the exam either :/

well im glad if i get 5 of 15 points, its not an important exam anyways... still not very nice :(

did you get one of those new durons? they are not that good... i got 3 of them here and one maxes out at 2.3ghz, the other at 2.25 and the last even has probs reaching 2ghz :rolleyes: thats with ~2v vcore...

i expected a bit more :/

immanuel kant, you say? lol..i have also studied his thoeries this semester in philosophy. my 1.4 mixhb duron is crankin out about 2.3 ghz, but i feel there is more. cant wait till you ship those xabres man!! (studies and health first, of course):toast:

i tested them all on a brand new nf7 without any mods. the board has the new silver caps wich look really nice, but the vcore was fluctuating quite a bit at 1.9/2v ... i used an enermax 350W psu with extremely stable rails, so thats not the problem... another thing i noticed on this new board is that the mosfets run cooler than on the old nf7-s 2.0 boards i tried a few months ago.

i could not reach fsb speeds above 200/210, but im sure i just need to do the 166fsb mod to those cpus to get higher fsb speeds...

since the multis on the 1400s were locked to 10.5 i think they are not maxed out yet, at 2150/2200 i just reached the fsb limit of the board, not the mhz limit of the cpus.

Saaya, those are all Tbred-A man.. You should get something like MIXIB or MIUHB. Notice the B at the end vs your A..

I just recieved a MIXIB Duron :) :) :) 2.2 at 1.7 vcore on air cooling...and im going to slap my Vapo XE on it tonight,there is just one MAJOR disadvantage! my NF7 is on RMA so im running an old Chaintech Apogee Deluxe Via KT400 :soap: and the fsb maxxes out at 150mhz fsb :( but ill give u some results later tonight

yep i got around 12fps with maxed out details, but even with the latest drivers there are a lot of artifacts in 1600x1200... :/

1024x768 runs great though :D

and yes, all newer durons are locked... :(

i got yet another one yesterday :rolleyes:

1600mixib 45 (hope its unlocked)
plugged it in my kt266a board and raised the fsb. 2ghz is 100% stable with 1.5v! ive been really busy with exams the last days, and i (still? or again?) got the flu, so after i set the cpu to 2ghz and started 2 prime 95 installs, the sandra cpu brun-in wizzard i fell asleep. i slept for 15!!! hours and when i woke up the tests were still running.

2ghz with 1.5v is not bad right? :D i tried 2.1, but the system crashed inmediatly, but im not sure if its the cpu. above 170fsb my pci reaches 43mhz and my crappy ibm deathstar hdds dont like high pci speeds at all.

i got most of the cards packed already, i will get the rest done tomorrow and ship them to you :)

holst, do you need some more help? is the madmark server up and running?

wow, i had some major probs here with the german postal service. i asked 2 diferent people from there how i should write the addresses on the packages and they said its ok the way i did it, but i went there on monday to ask when exactly the cards had been shipped and they said they had been delayed because the addresses were wrong and most important, because the shipping service i used is for companies only.

its kinda weird, they never told me about that before...
anyways, the mom of a good friend of mine has all the papaers i needed and helped me to get the cads shipped. i will stop by the postal office again tomorrow in the morning and make sure everything is ok now.

damn im so p1ssed :/ i talked to so many people from the german postal service now and almost everybody tells me a diferent story...

sorry for yet another delay... hope you all have some nice holidays! merry x-mas :toast:

i will try to post an update tomorrow and some pics of the cards :D

Sorry to be a nag but this seems to be taking ages, I mean the money was sorted quick enough but there seems to be one thing after another waiting for these cards. I mean you manage to spend enough time on these forums posting and testing other components yet to pack and ship these cards seems to have been a major issue.

I appreciate the fact that you have put yourself out for this and the time and effort involved but surely you must have realised this when you offered to do this.

no idear! i gave them my phone number and told them to call me if there was a problem... and firstr they told me the addresses were alright and then this 4sshole that put the cards to delay tells me some stuff none of the other 4 people i asked told me...

i opened the package of the cards, opened the antistatic bag, carefully removed the heatsink, cleaned both heatsink and gpu, put a sticker with an error code on the gpu, then put the card in the antistatic bag again, sealed the antistatic bag with a new seal saying the card is for testing only, wrapped some soft plastic stuff aoround the card, put it in the new box for shipping, put some more stuff in the box so it wont move around and protects the card, put the heatsink in the box, sealed the box, glued the name and address of the recipient on it, glued my name and address on it in case it doesnt go nowhere because of some bug, put yet another seal on the entire package.

all this took me more than 10min for every card, now go figure ;)

without the help of a good friend i would still be sitting here working on the cards :)

why all this work? oficially the cards are defect, not working or working partially but buggy. thats the only way i could send thim with the fee i paid, PLUS the only way for a buncvh of people to receive the cards without having to pay a load of taxes etc when they receive the cards.

so to keep them from testing one of the cards i removed the heatsinks and put the stickers with error codes on them wich makes them look like returned dud cards for rma. to further keep them from testing the card i put a new seal on the antistatic bag and on the entire package to keep them from opening them.

i know im beeing supercaucious, maybe too much, but i didnt want to risk that all the cards end up in my place and i get to pay some penalty...

its very easy to re apply the heatsinks, dont worry about that, and if one of the cards doesnt work i can still rma it from snogard.de (would have to send the card back to snogard and would probably get the money back since they dont have more xabre cards, but better than nothing :))

so the reason why i posted stuff and "tested other components" is because i didnt finish the cards in one day, whenever i had some free time i got a couple of cards ready for shipping, but i didnt spend my entire freetime on getting cards ready.

i totally underestimated the work that had to be done... maybe i shouldnt have removed the heatsinks and put those seals on the card, but i know somebody who worked for the german postal service and they pick some packages and check them really in-depth, so i got kinda scared lol :D

and some people from canada also told me that their mail is beeing checked very exhaustive and that they have to pay huge taxes for imported stuff...

You might want to actually read the thread. I cant say for sure, but I think there might be an opening. I personally dont know though. Odds are if you read the thread that can be answered, the others will as well to at least some degree.

Yeah,romanian post office is so BAD!Maybe I'll never get it,never got many many stuff.

First it goes to Bucharest,1 day till it goes to Oradea,1 day till invoice to go after it to oradea(60km away) comes,but cant go in,only next day,cause they bring it at 12 and it closes at 1 and you need 1 hour to go to oradea,routes are very bad...So...

And our PO is a little strange... I once mailed a package Friday morning and it arrived at it's destination on the next day. Odd thing about it was I sent the package to the UK. :eek: ;)

I'd bet on the latter! hehe Of course this would be a great learning experience, as I've never really done any significant volt mods. The last one resulted in my damaging a 1GB-kit of Corsair Twin-X4000PRO. I did get it to run at 280FSB, if only for a few hours.

Word to the wise: never try a VDIMM mod, without a digi-volt meter. My friend sent me a little V-mod kit (50k pot, and grabbers etc) and taped the 50k pot in place marking it, for the voltage steps. Even though he had the same board, all boards are not created (exactly) alike, even if their the same revision. :rolleyes:

Hey I just got a brainstorm (it's raining in here).
