Thank you all for your help on my last thread. It was indeed my motherboard that needed changing, which brings me to this thread.

After much reading on here, I think the Lanparty DK 790GX would be a good choice.

I was also considering this 790FX, mainly because of the price. It is an SB600 board, which veered me away initially. But ACC isn't that important on Phenom II's, unless I'm trying to unlock that 4th core on these X3's. Nonetheless, I'm more leaning towards the 790GX.

Any suggestions?

Thank you all in advance.

In my most humblest of opinions, the newer Southbridge is where you might want to invest. There is nothing wrong with the SB600 based board (I had a DFI 790FX M2R with the SB600, amazing board), however, I believe that there are not only improvements and refinements in the SB750, but also in the AGESA code and firmware (these components make up a major portion of BIOS) that accompany the SB750.

Most of the SB750 based boards have enthusiast type BIOSes, and should suit you quite well in your quest to get your CPU to newer heights

Thank you very much. This has indeed shed much light on this decision, and I think I'm much more comfortable going with the DFI board.

The SB750 790GX seems to be the best choice in that price range. I am open to other suggestions as well, given their tweakability is just as high.

Also, do you have any information on how these DFI's pair up with the Phenom II's?

I haven't played with any DFIs this time around, as their board designs for SB750 have been a little too goofy for me (if they did an SB750 version of the M2R, I would have payed anything for it)

Their DK model of the 790GX is weird, as it does not take advantage of the IGP that you get in the 790GX itself (no video ports at all).

Of all the boards I've messed with for Phenom generation CPUs, the Asus M3A78-T and M3A79-T have been the most consistent and reliable for me. I also have the Jetway HA07 Ultra, Gigabyte MA790GP-DS4H, and a Biostar 790GX A2+. Of all them, I've found that Asus has made the most progress in BIOS during the lifespan of the boards. All the others have been either behind or WAY behind.

The DK comes ith a pci slot dvi that connects to pin-outs on the mobo.

I guess I'll find out soon enough. Just ordered it a few minutes ago. And I prefer the extra USP ports on the back than the DVI/VGA ports. I have a Gigabyte MA770-DS3 that works fine with my X3, and it's SB600. I can only imagine the 790GX with SB750 will work better. And it's a DFI, so I'd expect to see a much more robust BIOS than I'm used to seeing on my previous AMD chipset boards.

That's actually really interesting to know. I haven't heard anything of that before. Do you know if it comes in the box, or is it optional to contact DFI for it?
