I just got my X3 710 running on a Gigabyte MA790X-UD4, and have run into some Issues.

The thing is, every time I installed the nVidia display drivers and reboot, the screen would stay black after the Windows loading screen would finish. I would then have to reboot into the last known good configuration, where I had no video drivers, and my 9800GT was detected as a "generic display adapter."

Oddly enough, I've gotten around the issue 2 different ways.

1. Setting the PCIe_16_1_Gen2 to "SW Switch" in the BIOS.

2. Swapping the card to the 2nd PCIe Slot.

I've chosen to troubleshoot the system using option 1, as I refused to leave the card running in the second slot. A faulty PCIe crossed my mind, but it works perfectly fine until I install the nVidia drivers. Then it goes haywire.

My question is, have any of you experienced any type of incompatibility issues with this board and nVidia graphics cards? The tech at Gigabyte told me to call XFX and ask them if they knew anything. Haven't done so yet.

All information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have you tried to update to a newer bios?

Nope, GTX285 running on the same board with a PII 720 here.

Thanks guys.

I think this is an isolated issue, and have confirmed this board is faulty. There a few other things not working as well.

It's off to be RMA'd now.
