So, now I have the bio star x58... and I have no idea where to begin... I tried a few things, but it would not post, even at minor increases. Could someone be kind enough to fill me in on what to enable/disable... and then what settings I should be changing?
I looked around, and it is not what I am use to (multis, fsb etc)
detailed info appreciated! hehe
I also tried this guys settings, wouldnt even post
just started stress testing

Try a lower multi first like eg 18 and get off them auto voltages.. try to keep uncore at twice the ram speed, also 1.85 volt for triple ram seems a bit over the top...

If you can't get 3.2Ghz just by setting the BCLCK to 130, then something is wrong. What are you setting your memory too?

ok, I do hate learning a new bios... but everyone keeps talking about this blck, I do not see or have that, lol.... I tried leaving memory on auto and I tried setting it to 1600 1t...
I honestly do not know what I am doing in this bios..... I can take some pics to show you my options, but im gonna update the bios right now, thx

posted some pics of what I have, I tried all settings.... and nothing really works, I assume I am not enabling or disabling something... or I do not how to set uncore/core/blck etc. Also, I updated the bios via the usb stick... but it still says dec 08 on my boot up screen?
any help appreciated

cpu frequency = bclk. bclk just means base clock, which differentiates it was frontside bus or FSB.

I figured, I tried modest overclocks to no avail... weird

This is biostar mobo, right? visit http://www.rebelshavenforum.com/sis-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=49
I've got biostar and it works just fine, except USB does not recognize storage devices intermittently after a cold boot. I don't know that's up with that, seems like a widespread issue with x58 biostars, no solution it seems.
My settings, IIRC, are all defaults except I did set all the voltages manually, not too high. My memory works just fine at 1.65, that's what it's rated for anyways. Make sure your memory is rated for 1.84v, seems quite high for DDR3 on i7. My CPU works at "stock" setting for voltage up to 180blck (that's the "cpu frequency" in bios), +0.8v for 21x191 :D but that's different for different CPUs. QPI/PCIe I've st to 1.3v

Special thanks to Movieman!! My favortie Admin of ALL time... no wonder these forums do so well!! Tought me I cannot hop in right away and shoot for 4 gig (like I have been doing for so long with the core duos).
Only at 3600mhz right now, but now I am working down the voltage..... before I increase the clocks.
imageshack is not working currently?! But I am 6.5 hours into 3600 mhz at 1.312 vcore, full load temps are 50-53c on air, memory is 7-7-7-19, 21x171 gonna reboot and try for a lower vcore!

heh, 8 hours stable at 1.28 volts?! temps around 46-49c
guess I can try lower volts?!

I would leave the voltage alone and now try and boost the speeds 100mhz at a time and see what she does..

thx bro, but I am a bit worried... anything around 175 either does not boot or blue screens....
I hoped that at 3600 1.280... I would get higher with more volts... but it does not want to go.... I even tried 175 and 1.4v just for fun, nothing!

Try 150, then 155, then 160,etc and all with 1.4v..slowly work your way up..

well I have 171 x 21 running solid, with the lowest voltage bump possible....
but like I said, I tried 175 with 1.4... no boot or blue screen!
thx

This is where you need the geniuses on the VTT,etc..
Try 1.45v on the cpu and see if that helps..BUT don't go over 1.5v..

yea but the pic was saying the clock was much slower and it is only showing 2 gigs of memory.. bios says 3
either way, I just posted 4000mhz!! No idea if it is stable yet, but I am typing! lol, I just loosened the timings to 9-9-9-24
