Ok, so I know it ain't "xtreme" or anything, but I can't find anywhere else here to post this. I started a topic on this on another forum, but only brought the relevant information here...
Well...thats the end of it...it froze up on me last night and after I hit the button, it flashed the ring again. I was about to dismiss it, when I realized my controller was running wireless. erego, no longer an issue with the play and charge kit. Because its modded I cant send it in, so as of now I AM THE WARRANTY!!!
I heard a high pitched whining from the fans so I opened up the case again and cleaned out the dust. I took a look at the fans and they looked fine, though "fine" is a relative term when their not on...I am currently working on a hard mod mock up to fit 2 40mm fans in place of the dual-30mm unit that comes inside the box. Right now I am unsure of how it will work, but I opted for some blue LED fans in case it actually works. IF!!! it does end up working, the fans are gonna look nice inside, since I have a large plexi window in it. We'll see, but last time I tried a mod like this, i ended up static-ing out the power supply...because the 360 doesn't have a powersupply to short out, I need to be extra careful I ground myself before i touch the box...

So here's the plan. I have located all the things i need to include in the new mod. The only real thing I will be modifying is the airflow sleeve and the metal frame that holds the mother board and other components. because of the limited space inside, I will also have to cut a bit of the shell away to make room for the larger fans, but right now, I am running it open faced and won't need to do that until I find a reason to.
AAAAAAAnnnyway, the second picture indicates the new positioning of the fans, which don't fit in the old space since there is an extra 10mm of width to deal with. One fan will go where the old unit was, situated further back and requiring only minimal cutting of the airflow sleeve. The second fan however will be placed closer to the heat sink and actually on the mother board. I indicated the cuts I will be making to the sleeve in green and you can see that there really wont be a whole lot left of that side. I am cutting extra give in the sleeve so that I can use some good tape to create a fluid airflow. I am not sure if i will be using a thin, transparent tape so I can see the lights in the box, or if i will need to use some heavy duty electrical tape to ensure a good seal.
I will update as things progress, whether for better or for worse...if it all comes down to it, I might just end up buying an "Arcade" and fixing it with my modded case and HDD...
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could improve the concept? Materials suggestions? Anything would be helpful...
