I currently have an amd athlon 64 x2 5600+ processor on a xfx 750a board. i just recently purchased a evga gtx 260 core 216 ssc edition, and ive been told its being bottle necked by my cpu and board. ive been told to go to an intel cpu and a new board but as im searching around i see boards that only advertise being crossfire ready. i will be looking to water cool and sli this gtx 260 soon, and im not to familiar with looking for a new board.

i would prefer if the 2 pci-e lanes were at full x16 during sli, and i dont want to spend anymore than about 400$ total if possible, maybe a little more if absolutely necessary. i will be selling my board and cpu soon which will make it easier for me, so i would like any possible suggestions.

Thanks!

OC your CPU and RAM using the highest stable FSB you can. Its the cheap solution. You won't see that much of a bottleneck. A64 X2 is aged, but its not a bad CPU. Perhaps a good way to judge for yourself would be to do some ORB browsing, find someone with a system similar to yours, then find someone else whos running a system similar to yours, only OCd ;)

odd, i did some searching, and my cpu is pulling up a score of 26409, and i see alot of people with athlon 6400+ cores getting a score of about 5000, but the gpu, since i have a ssc version is pulling up about 8000 and others are getting about 10-11000
