ShahrSakhtafzar Exclusive Interview With : Vince Lucido A.K.A K|ngp|n

He don't need to introduce :D so i go to interview directly .

1) For first question we want to know you better so please give us a biography about your self and tell us how and when it starts .

Vince : Born and raised in Detroit - Michigan area and I have lived here my whole life. I didn't get into computers really until a much later age as I was mostly into doing outdoors stuff like skateboarding/snowboarding, mountain biking, and riding sportbikes. Maybe around 1999-2000 is when my interest in PC's spiked. At first it was only online pc gaming and no oc at all. I was a big UT player. Always trying to squeeze the most FPS as possible out of my gaming machine, I stumbled across a few sites dedicated to overclocking and tweaking such as XS.org and others like Futuremark. I soon realized that tweaking/oc'ing your machine can be just as fun as playing games. It wasn't long before my pc room looked like mission control with air ducting, a million fans, and water tubing everywhere. What started on simple air cooling soon went to water, then single phase change, cascade, dry ice, and eventually LN2. I stoppped online gaming completely and started overclocking all the time.

2) what's your 24/7 system details ?

Vince : My 24/7 system is an ASUS P5K-3 deluxe with a X6800XE and EVGA 8800gts. The shop workstation uses ASUS P5E64 WS-Evo, 4GB CORSAIR 1800C7, and EVGA GTX295.. soon to be NVIDIA Quadro FX powered .

3) Who are your influences in overclocking and why?

Vince : My biggest influences in overclocking have to be Shamino, Hipro5, OPPainter, and all of team Japan. Alot of these guys are pioneers in overclocking, and I have learned something from all of them. I will always have the highest level of respect for these guys and I can say for sure that they all played a big role in inspiring me in everything I did and still do today in overclocking. Team Japan has had a big impact on the design and evolution of my cpu containers.

4) How do you feel about the growing overclocking scene today? and what's your idea about philosophy of OverClocking ?

Vince : It’s a great. I have always been pushing towards this for many years. There is manufacturer involvement at many levels and it really is growing. A lot of guys are doing LN2 now, getting sponsored, and doing demos and contests all over the world for various companies. There is “good” manufacturer involvement and there is “bad” manufacturer involvement though. Some companies need to get a clue on how to market to the community. Bad marketing won't get the interest and respect that they are looking for from product launches. Overclocking at the higest level is about spending as much time as possible with a rig and learing every aspect of it while trying to extract every possible point no matter how long it takes. Overclocking at the highest level IS NOT about who can get the best lousy score in 1hr in a particular benchmark then we move on to the next benchmark for 1hr and so on. What the hell is the point of that? Good marketing for whatever company is sponsoring the event? STUPID!!

7) What's is your favorite projects and why ?

Vince : My favorite projects were benching Pentium-M and FX-57 @4ghz + with 3dmark 2001 using a single X800 or X850 card lol. Overclocking on LN2 was more exciting back then for me, so those experiences really stand out more than anything.

8) which of the new products do you love to test ?

Vince : I always look forward to testing new NVIDIA graphics cards of course.

9) What is your favorite benchmark and why ?

Vince : I would have to say that my favorite benchmark is really all 3d benchmarks both single card and multi card. Currently my favorites are 01' and all vantage presets. A Vantage rig can grow on you because it requires so much hard work and dedication. You have to put in alot of effort on that benchmark to be succesful. A multi gpu / multi container LN2 Vantage rig is a big challenge.

10) could give us some information about your F1 Extreme container ?

Vince : It’s HEAVY!!! And it owns quads :)

11) what's your favorite container that you made ?

Vince : The first production revision of the F1. It was a bit different than anything else at the time. I had been playing with the design for nearly a year in my lab, and I knew it completely owned as far as temp control and swing. It allowed me to take my cpu overclocks alot higher with a lot more stability and ease, especially on quad-core chips in 06'. For a long time I wasn’t sure if was ever going to even make this container for the masses. It was going to be my secret weapon and now almost all of the guys I compete against use it.

12) how many hours a week do you spend in overclock?

Vince : Depends if I am benching for something or there is upcoming product launch. I have spent as much as 15hrs day for a week straight overclocking to get scores. Right now I am not overclocking at all. The LN2 units take 120% of my time now. It’s so much work to deal with, there is barely any time to overclock for fun anymore. At least the time that I need to put into it for it to be right.

Non-Hardware :

13) would mind to giving us a nice and exclusive picture of you that you didn't publish anywhere ?

Vince : See attachment of container pics

14) have ever seen iran ? what's your idea about IRAN ?

Vince : No I have not been to IRAN. I think it is really cool that there is an overclocking scene there though. I know our countries have had rocky diplomatic relationships, but in the overclocking world NONE of this matters. We are all brothers in our community. Overclocking has shown me that our world is a much smaller place than I originally thought. Doesnt matter what country or continent I am on, when I am with other overclockers I feel right at home.

15) what's your academic degree ?

Vince : I went to college for many years before I stopped about 20 credit hours short of my bachelors degree to jump on a business opportunity that I couldn’t pass up at the time. I studied business as well as graphic and industrial design. I am currently planning to go back and finish up my degree with an industrial design major at wayne state university in Detroit.

at the end we want from vince to get us a nice picture of his and his answer :

I couldnt find a picture of myself asnywhere as I ahte taking pictures lol! But I did find a nice picture of all of the LN2 containers I have made for the last 4 years put together in one pic. This pic has never been seen anywhere for sure.

and this is that Exclusive Picture :
