Yes they will work, after a while it will break and by then you learn to improvize.

Pins, eyeglass screwdrivers, picks & other small items work just as well.

i've used tons of things to pop the pins. small flathead screwdriver work best.

i assume you're "not" inventing a molex extractor tool. :-) i modded mine by first putting in a small screwdriver. inside the plastic little hole and around the molex pin. as i'm pushing into the molex i pushed in the little metal flaps and let the pin get through the plastic. don't worry about the flaps you can't see them but the screwdriver will do it's job. then to get the wire out i crushed the ends with pliers. as i made sure to leave a round hole for the next wire. to put the molex pin back into the plastic i just pulled back out the little metal fins thus allowing the pin to stay in place. hope this gave's a hand in your project, good luck.
