MSI has just forwarded to us of information on a news GeForce GTX 260 proposer of many improvements on the original model. It is thus about a design house, permitted recently by NVIDIA. MSI proposes on its chart a food with 10 phases (8+2), with components of high-quality, in particular of the condensers tolerating a temperature going until 125°C and announced with one 5000 hours lifespan. She proposes a advanced and practical control of her tensions. One will note also new the ventirad equipped with five heatpipes and two ventilators. We kept the best, or in all that will make more speak, for the end, it propose the double of memory, that is to say 1792 Mo of usual GDDR3 instead of the 896 Mo! It is about GeForce GTX 260, it thus supports DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0 and various technologies NVIDIA, CUDA, PhysX, SLI, PureVideo HD, 3D Vision… etc This MSI N260GTX Lightning will be launched officially at the time of CeBIT.

It should be good for SLi, but what's the point of having such large frame buffer on GTX 260. Why not 2GB on an OC-ed GTX 285?

agreed, the price/performance ratio won't make sence.

it has condensers?

This should be a nice card for CUDA devs. 1.7GB of RAM releases a lot of limits if you're playing with yourself.

I've more information about this VGA : there are few Measure point especially for us (OCer)

I think this design come from the discussion we had with the engineer back in november @ MOA (MSI MAster Overclocking Arena)

Google Translator FTW... I can only see the use of such memory in GTA IV :D

does that actually help performance wise with aa?
and yeah, a 260 will be gpu limited at high aa levels, at least a lot more than a 285 right? or maybe they are so close at high aa levels that it didnt make sense and they rather use a 260 which is cheaper and offers almost the same perf at high aa levels with large framebuffer?

id like to see some numbers, sounds interesting :)

might be a very nice option for gpgpu fans btw, frame buffer like a quadro but much cheaper :D
