Hard oc, mem modded 9800XT, sounds nice, hmm?
After a long wait i finally got my 9800XT but i also planned on doing a mod. Get a 5950U or high speed chips and have it professionally switched but decided that for now there are better things to take care of. Maybe next time.
Anyone wanna do it before i do ?
BTW, anyone know a link to 9800XT volt mods ?
Thanx!

*has a hard time seeing a 9800 XT's memory doing 600mhz*
DUCK read the message he wanted to switch the memory on the card :)
Although 600 core is a big enough ask hehe

Radeon cards are not limited by RAM (Ns rating), but rather their memory subsystem. This is why people who HAVE soldered FX5900 chips onto their 9800 Pros have seen little to no gain.
I know, having seen it in the past. One day it may be seen :D

I think I can get to 600 core tonight, running 588 now at 1.84v and I will prob reach 2v by the end of the night. I have a Compusa PAT warranty in hand.
The memory is not so good, maxing out at 424

Found the volt mods right here at xtremesystems.
900 mem is within reach with some extra voltage as i found out the mem is undervolted, who knows maybe even 900+.
1200 mem is a different story.
Fugger, good luck. With finesse tweaking you should be able to reach 600, who knows maybe 600+. Wish you the best.

Well, 600MHz core aren't SO unreachable... I can bench @ 560/396 with just +7C watercooling (2.05 Vgpu). Card is able to hit 500/396 out-of-the-box and 525/396 unmodded watercooled/chilled. Maybe, when i'll mount vapo on gpu 600 will be possible...

Somehow i cant imagine 1200 mem clocks... >1170 (no vmod) on a killer fx5800 is preety hard... and radeons dont scale with ns like geforce's

I guess 600core is possible but not from someone who doesnt even know how to voltmod it...... no offence Napalm but it takes more than money to hit a high overclocks.... these guys know what theyre doing and the cooling they use is not something you can just order from a store......
Nice score Fugger:toast:

Yeah I don't think 1200 mem is possible.

Switching the chips from a 5950 wont work like that.
There is allot of other things holding back the XT memory clocks not just the chips themselves.
If ATI could just put on more expensive ram onto the 9700 and get 1200mhz memory then they would probably be selling a card like that, but there not..
As for the core clock... it will be very impressive if you do manage it. But why will you succeed where others have failed?

Where did i say that i'll succeed or even go for 600 ? Though, i may go for it.

ATi ain't gonna match 1200 mem to a 412 core, they're all about balancing the two as they see fit.

And ATI reach any given benchmark score,
at lower mem and core than geforce's, just
the way it turned out. Geforce's need to be
clcoked higher to match the score.

yea, but you can't compare it like that.
Kinda like athlon Xp's and pentium 4's.........it's just doesn't add up for each clock.

1000/ns = speed rating
