Hi,
got a new ASUS 9800XT today. After installing the new CAT 3.8, I wanted to enable this new "Overdrive" feature, but it's not there!!!!
I don't know what I've done wrong during the installation, made it twice with Cat 3.8 and thereafter with the ASUS drivers, NOTHING!!
This card was found and is indicating under properties as a RADEON 9800XT!
Please help, any idea what went wrong here??

True...
The Asus XT does NOT support OVERDRIVE.
But don't sweat it, OVERDRIVE is no big deal...it's only good for 5% Overclock. Use a genuine OC program like Powerstrip, Rage3D (if their version is up yet) or Radclocker!

THX!!!
Why NOT?? Is there any possibility to enable it?
Doesn't matter, in this case what is the best prog for overclocking it? Just want to keep this card origin as it is, means without any mods, how far can I overclock it?

Hosch,
The OC programs are really good....they auto-load...they don't affect your VC directly and certainly won't damage it if used within reason! I'd say you could probably run 24/7 at 440/400 on these sweethearts!

probably much more. the 9800pros could run 450ish on a lot of em. and others like mine just sucked and could only run 420.

that ram is 2.5ns i believe. should be able to get higher

Which one are you using, is there a good one? Heard of customized CAT 3.8 drivers are this good and where I get this?

On air I'm completing 3DMark benchmarks at 474/428, but it's not REAL stable...
For every day use I like rage3D but I think their version is not out yet. Powerstrip is oK, but a little more enthusiast related. Radclocker is suppose to be nice, but I've never used it.

you might be able to enable overdrive if you flash the bios of another xt card, but i wouldnt do it since asus uses diferent memory it seems. the first thing anybody who knows as lil about hardware does anyways is disable overdrive after he ibnstalled the drivers so dont worry about that ;)

That is a very nice overclock you got there with stock cooling.

How did you manage 428mhz mem out of the box? I can only do 408mhz max with the Asus Radeon 9800XT.

Is Asus using different ram chips than the original ATI card?

Manoj,
I think it's all luck of the draw....the core on this one really doesn't do better than 471-474....but the mem will do 428, just like the 9800Pro's these are all a little different!

Hi,
how do you get so high. Tried 440 on GPU and I get white pixel during playing games???

Get pixel could be a shader or ram. BTW: Cat 3.8 sucks.
