View Full Version : Finished cascade 3.0

New gauges, two expansion tanks for second and third stages, wiring for all compressors, power box, compressors replacement on second and third stage, changed valve on 3rd stage, low temp oil change, and new fan mounts.

Quieter, colder, higher capacity, lower static pressure and screams in pain as it drops to -130c

Sounds to be interesting....

However, I cannot help but laugh when I imagine the little kitty avatar delivering the message..... hehehe...

Are you the one doing the building or is Reggie? I hope you do it yourself and take lots of pictures. That would be fun

It will be 50/50, I measure and cut and Reggie will braze, we both triple check plumbing layout and direction.
I am pretty insistant on layout and charging pressures.
I will cut the block, reggie will assemble the lineset.
I also suggest new ideas to higher capacity with colder temps.
Together we have built a few great cascades sucessfully.

Not enough you're a master overclocker,
now a master phase builder as well. :worship:

Speaking of Phase I was looking into this...
http://www.overclockers.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3678&catid=52:cooling&Itemid=4257

Not sure how reliable it would be but thought it would be an interesting project.
Good luck with the build and like everyone else would love to see some pics as you go..

how many stages and what kind of temp are u shooting for?

02-06-2009, 06:52 PM
nice work fugger, im sure there will be lots of benching to come as well once the new cascade is finished.
are you going to do something similar to what bazx has done with his recent cascade??

Really interested in seeing what you'll do for temperature adjustments of the evaporator. Given the vast disparities between CPU operating temperatures, I wonder if you plan on using an electronically controlled refrigerant system to pulse refrigerant or if you'll use a static refrigerant line and a hot-gas bypass to maintain a specific temperature. Really looking forward to seeing this build

Well, 4 compressors and 3 HXs, sounds like either 4 stages with 1 compressor per stage or 3 stages with 1 stage doubling up compressors and using the remaining HX as a pre-cooler as he mentioned. Since he's working with Reggie, I would imagine R-14 would be the final refrigerant yielding evap temps around -120C.

modded tes2 to control evp temps and R14's load holding ability, now that its been proven to work very well by Bazx of Benchtec

Ill update the title later, Reggie will be involved with this build and I hope to get him motivated again.

Looks like he (Reggie) is still around you... Please let him know that I'll never forget what he promised and took from me!

Finished.

More capacity, lower temp.

Tuning.

My rebuild was assisted by Fred.

Replaced the second and third stage, added expansion tanks for second and third stage, replaced filters, remounted the heat exchangers, power and start upgraded.

Gas bland not yet final, trying for -130's now

New gauges, two expansion tanks for second and third stages, wiring for all compressors, power box, compressors replacement on second and third stage.
Taken at Fred's place with Reggie assisting in charging the third stage.
Minor changes to the line set and block.

A reference book of some sorts, he wanted to see the specs of what we were sending in.

I will have the unit at my office.

looks good

what are the secs and gases of the unit?
3 seperate stages or any autocascades included?

Damn, it's tiny! Couldn't make a bigger unit? :p:
Just kidding... It's a monster, -130C is bloody impressive! Well done! :D
Will we see it in action (benches, etc)? ;)

Nice job Fugger, Reggie and Fred!!!!
Did you re-purpose a receiver for one of the expansion tanks?

bazx

good to see a new 3 stage

have a few Q.

whats the cap size and length on last stage

did you make the oil sep on the last stage ya selves or a manufacturer part

FUGGER
01-02-2011, 01:36 PM
No cap tube, the expansion valve that does a great job adjusting from 0 to 50 psi on the fly. There is also more work done to the line set not mentioned, multiple liquid lines to the block to increase capacity and eliminate oil clogging the block I also changed the oil on both stages.

Big blue Henry oil separator

A custom manifold was created for each stage, some lines were changed and paired to sub cool at intersections creating more of an auto cascading effect.

We did not use R1150 this time, my old charge was saved and bottled.

bazx
01-02-2011, 01:46 PM
i am still thinking on the oil removal on my units last stage

atm i think i will go with two teprite 900 in parallel but still unsure it will work

is the unit off to ces
