How long to wait for an upside down Single Stage?

I received a single stage that was shipped upside down on the shipping box for 2 days.

How long should I wait to power this unit on?

24 hours should be enough, maybe too long.

That's more than sufficient. Oil will pool in the lowest points and honestly the compressor is rarely the lowest point. Often enough the condenser's bottom rows are oil traps and there's no way it's getting back to the compressor until you turn the system on and have the compressor force the oil back.

On a fridge you normally say an hour, but as gomeler says, in an SS the compressor isn't the lowest spot, it is on a fridge though.

But I would say, that if you turn it on, the oil will be kicked back to the compressor pretty quick.
