So, for a single stage unit. With a compressor running 24/7/365.

What could one expect the life of a hermetic or rotary compressor in this fashion to be? I know there are other factors, but what would a rough estimate be?

I was thinking about 2 years? 24/7 that is...

Thoughts?

That really depense on how good the builder is.

If the builder stays within the specs of the compressor you can expect a life time of approximately what is statet in the data sheet of the compressor.

For a single stager set up right ask yourself how old is your fridge/freezer and what warranty it has. A single stager should last just as long.

So long as the compression ratio isn't out of spec, you are talking years of operation. Remember that a fridge doesn't run 24/7, however some compressors have a stated MTBF value rated in hours.
