Where did you find that ? DX10 isnt XP compatible as it woudl require a whole rewrite of the API.

I was going to say DX10 doesnt work on XP last time I knew.
Vista and Win7 are the only ones with DX10 compatiblity. For Windows.

Wow I just looked it up and I guess a guy named Cody Brocious is making it compatible for XP, Linux and OS X. Didnt know that.

Pretty cool but I bet it will be buggy but who knows.

As far as I know, the latest version of DirectX for Windows XP is this:
http://www.microsoft.com/DOWNLOADS/details.aspx?familyid=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en

It was published online at the beginning of December 2008, although it probably installs the Nov '08 Version.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=886acb56-c91a-4a8e-8bb8-9f20f1244a8e&DisplayLang=en - November 2008 release is the latest (I know cuz a plugin for an emulator I bugtest for uses the updated DX dll files from this build). Somehow it's difficult to even find on their own site cuz it links to august build if you follow the "latest redist" link. There's probably gonna be a new release in near future. At least for March if not Feb.

What company isnt douche in the Operating System manufacturing industry??

I think it is smart of MS to do what they are doing. Do I like it? No but that is how this world seems to work now a days. Screw everyone make money.

Just wait for Win7 its better then both Vista and XP

No, XP is old & outdated and can't handle DX10 without heavy modification and it would be stupid for M$ to put time and money into DX10 for XP when Vista is already here.

Scrapped because of time/money/M$ getting pissed off about it/way too much work.

That sucks :(

Well I found a loop hole if you're playing crysis. You can edit the cfg files and make all the settings high. I did that and it looks great, even in 9. :D Not as good as 10... but it will hold me over till win7 comes out. :D

I hope some good source mods come out in the mean time.... I also bought a copy of DIRT.
