I just set up my new computer up in my room... and my Mitsubishi CRT screen is shaking, and I have no idea why. All I have running is the computer, monster power power station, speakers, screen, router, and modem. Thats all... what could be causing this? I really hope its not the power station. :( I need that to protect my since I can't afford a UPS.

EMI interference from something...maybe speakers, fan not in pc, cordless phones, etc, etc...dunno..change refresh rate to correct in some situations. Had this alot setting up pcs in offices that have welding equipment in the shop...

Did you degauss it a few times? When I still had a CRT I had to degauss it a few times after my friend thought it would be funny to place a big magnet on top of it.

Is there a fan anywhere near it?

Any power outlets near? Try holding a large piece of tin foil behind it...

I pressed the BNC/D-sub button and it helped.... a little. But now I'm noticing the corners on the right are shorter verticly ever since I adjusted the res size in windows.... I think this screen is getting old. :( Dammit, its a good one too. Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 900u. I'm still trying to figure out how the connections work in the back even after owning it for 8 or 9 years. Bunch of connections for different colors....

Hmmmm... apparently I'm finding a lot more search results than I did a few years ago on BNC. Apparently it's older than RGB and used for radio and commercial use... but is it better than RGB or equal or less as good than DVI?

Yes, BNC is what was used in commercial digital video editing devices. I used to have TONS(~$50k) worth of dv camera equipment...tape decks, mixing tables, etc...could do a live tv show...anyway..all BNC.

Two of my CRT monitors also have the BNC connections, I bought a DVI to BNC cable to try them out and couldnt get nearly as high resolution as standard VGA cable. So I would stick with VGA for a CRT.

Yeah... but was your video card RGB or DVI?

Stop shaking your desk! :p:

I've seen this before, at my highschool years ago the CRT in the IT office had to be on 60Hz otherwise it would have very visible screen waver/shaking. It was due to the EMI from the giant UPSes under the desk that kept the servers going.

Yeah... but was your video card RGB or DVI?

To directly answer your question, DVI is superior, currently, to BNC. BNC is not HDCP though...DVI most often is...

Consider BNC to dvi like MIDI to USB...BNC and midi are very fixed-function. DVI and USB are very versatile. Speed not considered, of course.
