i saw those open box motherboards on newegg, and i wonder if they really just come with the motherboard:confused:
not even the IO shield, driver, and sometimes the audio card(with those high end motherboards such as the MSI Eclipse)?
will they work?:eh:
tell me about your experience:D

The rule is they come with nothing... but sometimes they come with everything......it's a crap shoot.

about 5-6 years ago I got a NE open box Abit IS7. If you looked close it had that white heat sink paste all over it: in fingerprints and smudges. I cleaned it off with qtips and isopropyl alcohol, and it looked brand new. It came with the IO shield, driver disk, manual, and 1 or 2 sata cables. It worked perfectly and oc'ed wonderfully. don't remember if it had a warranty. If it did I voided it immediately anyway

ive ordered the open box from the egg. came with just the mobo. but i had heard you could get lucky and get everything with it. i wasnt so lucky. still got a great board for half the price it would of cost initially. fired right up the first time i booted.

high end mobos almost always come with only the mobo and literally nothing else. i built someone a cheap computer and bought an open box high end mobo, and that's all it came with.

It's 50/50. I've gotten many that were item only, some that had everything. The safest bet is assume it comes with nothing but the bare item and it it has everything, BONUS.

Mine came with everything but the SATA cables, which was a lot more than I expected. I guess someone really liked the SATA cables that came with it.

Your much more likely to have something wrong with hardware that was returned. The motherboard I sent back a while back to Newegg had 2 bad memory slots that would memtest error like crazy. If they even tested it I doubt very much the test was very intense.

This is the truth. They only come with whatever the previous owner returned with it.
I've bought three open box motherboards from Newegg, two GA-P35-DS3R boards for two friends' builds, and a DFI LanParty DK X38-T2R for myself. One of the P35 boards was DOA, but it came with everything included. I think the other P35 board also had everything included.
My DFI board... Well, it came in an ASUS box that was flipped inside out, and it had most of the items. It was missing one SATA cable from the included packaging, but the previous owner put in two extra different colored SATA cables, I guess to make up for it. However, it did not come with the northbridge heatsink! No I had to rig up my own for a while until I bought a replacement. The I/O shield was also missing, but I'm not sure why you would not return that, since it's only useful with the board it was designed for.
So yeah, you have a chance of getting everything, nothing, or some things.
