Currently I'm using an old Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite keyboard. The keyboard is several years old, getting worn, dirty, and I'm looking to replace it.

I've been strongly leaning towards Logitech because of their quality products and amazing warranty policy. Initially I was looking at the Logitech DiNovo Edge but now I'm reconsidering since it has to be recharged and doesn't have a num pad.

Please recommend a keyboard. I'd prefer wireless but I guess I'm indifferent for the most part and I can live with a quality wired keyboard. I would like for it to have a num pad and it must be full-size. Would also like a cushion at the bottom for added comfort to the wrists, unless it is still comfortable without one. Looking for something reasonably priced (hopefully no more than $150). Thanks for the suggestions.

Probably by plugging it in instead of putting it on a charger Iwould think.

Also that keyboard you picked out from newegg is a good one. I used it on my lappy for a while till i decided to blow my lappy up

Now I'm considering the diNovo Edge (again).

Not too keen on the laptop version because its smaller and the keys are too close together. I'm looking for a desktop keyboard...something with a bit more spacing and better ergonomics / ease of use.

I have a diNovo Edge and charge it once every 3-4 weeks for a night

Love the little touchpad on it too. Definitely a nice keyboard on all levels :)

I'm almost set on it. Now if I could just find it for a reasonable price. The cheapest I've been able to find is Dell ($138 with tax and shipping) after a 25% off coupon.

Is the price premium really justified versus the $60 Logitech Illuminated Keyboard (the new thin one) or the Logitech G15?

I'm a big fan of the Razer. Its got lit up buttons which makes it easy to see in low light. Its also got a nice quality rubber feel to it. Apparently its also 'low input lag'. Not sure if that makes a real world difference.

Logitech also makes some lit up keyboards.

I'm not really in need of a backlit (illuminated) keyboard as I have light on when using the computer. Decided that I probably also don't need the num pad because I rarely use it.

If you don't mind using a no-gimmick keyboard, there is no keyboard out there that types better than a Steelseries 7G. The 6G might be a good choice as well. I've never used it though, but it looks like it is built on the same principle.

Nice looking KB's from SteelPad. I've been interested if there's any old-school keyboards left as I prefer my old Keytronic from 2001 that seems to have similiar-looking keys as the Steelseries 7G, ie huge, tall with great feeling. Too bad for the size, I don't have any room for such extra consuming space in front of it. Any other option that has only the basic layout but similiar shaped keys today?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm looking for something a bit fancier than that with a few more 'extras' such as the diNovo or Illuminated keyboards.

The wrist rest is removable. It is just as small as standard OEM keyboards without it.

Too bad you don't like the illumination, but this does give you more options.

The steelseries I have heard only good things about. They're simple, quality feel keyboards designed to last.

What kind of features are you looking for?

I have the Logitech Divovo Edge and love the keyboard. That with the Logitech MX Revolution mouse is the perfect combo. I hardly ever have to charge these two devices.

Mainly looking for comfort and ergonomics, good travel distance for the keys, volume control, and soft comfort for wrists.

I've pretty much settled on the diNovo Edge but its a bit much at $140. If I could find it new for $100, I'd probably bite. If not, I may have to settle for the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard @ $65.

I do like my G15 :)

very comfy, but it does have a few buttons etc you wont use if your not gaming etc.
Otherwise im very happy with it. Volume controls etc on the top are a godsend!
Was $95 here in AUS about 2 months ago

I play games occasionally, but not enough to demand a true gaming keyboard. I was considering the G15 at first, but now I think it will have more buttons than I'll ever use.

I like my logitech access keyboard 600. At first I wasn't sure about the "new" way of putting the home/end/page up/page down buttons on but I got used to it pretty quick and actually now it makes sense. The only thing that threw me off is it has no scroll lock button. Yeah I know nothing uses it much anymore but Xfire uses scroll lock + X to bring up in-game chat, now I gotta find a different key combo to use for it :p:

Thing is, it is wired. I prefer wired (it just sits there after all, no batteries to mess with, plus cheaper to buy) but you said wireless.

check out the G15, very durable and functional; great for making tunes. I'm sure the extra keys would work for photochop too. I personally have G15 1gen but you cant get it anymore, here's gen2 http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26151&vpn=920-000379&manufacture=Logitech

How are the keyboards nowdays, bought a cheap wired EZKey EZ-8000 Smart Office Keyboard - PS/2 last spring but the A and S was gone after 3 month and last week the wire was glitchy, that never happended with the old day, they were built like tanks
...most keyboards also dont like when you press more than to keys at the same time in games and the PC speaker beeps, quite annoying while setting a new lap record in GRID

the razor tarantula works for this but looks like crap and software is flaky

are the any other ones to consider and that are wireless?

MSRP of $199.99 is much too much.

Its only a row of buttons down the left side. 6 to be exact.
And then 3 more in the top left...

Other than that its fairly similar to most others overall.
Ive had a mate spill beer, and im not talking a tiny amount... all over it.

I pulled it apart and washed it, works just like new! :)
I was surprised, its pretty easy to clean once you pull it apart

I think I've narrowed it down to the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard. Any thoughts/opinions about that one?

If you want something more comfortable try one of these in-store. I think its very important to go to an Office Max/Depot/Best Buy etc and type on all of the keyboards as they are very different.

I agree with Soulburner.

I have a preference for Logitech, I love their pheripherals. Now, If you have money to spend, go for the best G19. If you dont feel is worth it, you can algo for the G15, DiNovo, etc

It's supposed to be brighter than the Lycosa I'm typing on, so it should be very visible except in a bright/sunny environment.

I'll go and try to see if they have it on display at the local BB. Not really focusing on the backlight because I mostly work with the lights on. Looking for a bit of style, ergonomics, comfort, and good typing comfort.

Anxiously waiting... :D
