why cant they put a cpu backing plate with every mobo they sell ??

im getting really sick and tired of this.

with in the last few months, ive picked up a new

P5Q- no backing plate

M3n72- no backing plate

boistar T no backing plate

Tyan server no backing plate

ALL WC blocks from DD, no backing plate

this is getting really annoying real fast !

Seriously, how long does it take to design and build a 1/2 inch piece of hard plastic to go with your mobo that costs on average 200 bucks?? maybe $ 1 worth of plastic ???

FAIL !!

I don't see why a mobo manufacturer would add a back plate. It should be entirely to the heatsink/water block manufacturer. Not every heatsink uses the same threads so unless a standard was introduced (which i highly doubt would happen) it doesn't make any sense for the mobo manufacturer to include a back plate.

All AMD boards have a backplate

But for clip on heatsinks. Which almost all good heatsinks out there require the removal of.

Not always, many heatsinks use the stock plate, just take the plastic bracket off.

That's because the "REFERENCE" heat-sink/fan for an Intel CPU does not require screws to be installed in a motherboard, but just 4 plain wholes for the already long pins to lock-in position.

Not to mention that a back-plate is only for support for those massive heat-sink/fans which 100% of the time, you'll have to buy it from a 3rd party. Stock or reference HSF for Intel CPUs are no where near that.

Makes me wonder why SLOT-1 never required a "back plate" either.
