would it be better to get a monitor with a 2ms response time with a res of 1920x1080 or a 5ms response time with a res of 1920x1200? which way would be more worth it? it will be for gaming.

just out of sheer curiosity.... are you looking at the asus's monitors on sale at newegg? :p:

Get a nice S-IPS 24" ... 1920*1200 ... it's a "lifetime" thing and you can get them for 500 bucks +
I'd cry If I should buy a TN LCD... I use one Samsung 22" TN for Movies and everytime I power it on My eyes get wet ... :hehe:

I've said it before and I'll say it again - don't look at advertised response time, they don't mean anything. Actual tested times are much higher, up to 10x.

black to black , grey to grey....dif makers use dif timings.
Buy what you can afford....you'll love it either way.
