ATI to nVidia back to ATI--Driver help

Well I got an 8800GT and decided that I didn't like the added noise, so I put my HD3850 back in. In the process ATI's drivers got uninstalled and nVidia's drivers installed, but now I can't uninstall nVidia drivers OR install ATI drivers. The installer does nothing at all. I don't want to reinstall Vista64 AGAIN.

have you tried removing manually, this means uninstalling the active driver VIA device manager, then deleting all files from the hidden user-appdata folders, and deleting all other references to ATI/NV in regular areas.

finish off with driver cleaner pro and see if that doesn't fix it.

I used Driver Sweeper to kill the nVidia drivers, because they simple refused to uninstall. Still, the ATI drivers are b0rk3d it seems. Something about not being able to find an INF file...
