The BIOS is wrecked with my Gigabyte X38T mobo and I can get my hands on a X48T for a decent price. Is it possible to swap mobo's without Vista getting all bent out of shape?

Yeah just clear out the mobo driver crap. Then I believe it is fine to switch out. A few people on here have already done it.

It shouldn't. I swapped out my EVGA 680i for a 780i FTW a while back and Vista didn't :banana::banana::banana::banana: at all.

It'll be find, just boot into safe mode and remove the chipset software with driver cleaner or what ever. Shutdown and install new motherboard.

I've done this plenty of times. It's the older chipsets that tend to play havoc.
