Guys, quick question that needs a fast answer (auction on ebay ending in 20 minutes). Does anyone know if any branded so-dimm memory will work in any laptop provided the laptop and memory are both DDR2? I'm looking to buy a HP branded So-dimm for my Acer branded laptop. Is there any reason why it wont work?

Additonal info:
The part number of the ram is: EM994AA (it's a 1GB DDR2 667 stick) and the laptop is an Acer Aspire 1692wlmi. I already have a DDR2 533 1GB stick in the laptop. The 2nd 1GB stick that I had in there died, so I'm looking to replace it with another 1GB stick.

I've read DDR2 is backwards compatible with slower DDR2 modules, so it should work in that respect. I just wanted to make sure about the different brands.

they need to be 667mhz cas5 unless the laptop states that it can do cas4 or 800mhz, and they need to be of an appriot size for the laptop some wont take larger than 1GB sticks
